Can you tell me the Export settings to take 720p/23.976 project out and import it back into a capatible SD project. So i can lay it to tape. Im working on Avid Media Composer 2.8 with no additional hardware or software. Except for Procoder. So i need to downconvert HD to SD. How do i bring it out of my HD 23.976 project and back into a SD 30i project? Please help me.

ji Micheal thank you for coming to my plea. Actually, you made me realize something. I tried that but it didnt work. It imported blank..BUT what i did was open a project with the same framerate and then opened the bin i made the mixdown of the 720p project and transcoded the mixdown to SD and it worked! Thanks for taking the time to look at my desperate plea. NEVER working with 720p again! lol.

But i would like your opinion on something. My master formats are going to be mini Dv and DVD. i know by downconverting my project and then laying it to mini dv is going to loose some quality AND then the client is going to transfer the mini to Beta for airing!! Any better suggestions as far mastering to DVD and Mini DV???

    Appreciate it!!! 😉

good point shane..well what I know so far that I will be editing the project off my own system and then bringing it to them. I have to get more information about it. Im waiting on the call. They said it wont be until the last 2 weeks of October anyway. As far as i know i will cut from my own system and then bring in the peice to their system….

thanks David… the show is being shot in HD by professional so im sure the color wont be a huge problem if any, but besides that, is there any major difference or specifications I need to know or do to prepare the edit for a TV broadcast. I mean is there a difference do I just cut normally i would any other peice thats not being aired.? I only ever did web stuff…. hope Im not confusing…

Hey thanks for the reply… i actually match framed every offline clip and used the timecode to overwrite the clip… it was a long process but the only thing that worked… thanks….

Hey Job so sorry for the long waited response but this thing has me soooo stressed out and backing me and my money up! anyway. No they are not P2 files. What I figured out was that source files are my original files right which are the .old but the sequence was created with the .new files which is when i consolidated to a different drive but chose not to delete the original. However that drive that had the .new copies went bad and couldnt retrieve my data. So basically I have the original files and they are all there ..but on the timeline it has the copy or new consolidated clips in there. so when I try to relink its not recognizing for some reason. now when i do a match frame on the media offline it pops up in the source monitor as media offline of course but its there. How do I reveal that file? to track where that file is? because if it can match frame then its somewhere in the system!!!! I did the media tool and all projects and all ect…but I did not see the media offline files that are in the sequence… What I figured out to do in the meantime was to match frame on the media offline and then use the timecode to go to the same timecode in the files that are online and then do a overwrite! lol.. tidius but its the only thing working. If you have any suggestings let me know. By the way im a female editor and no wonder there are more male editors than females! I cant put up with this crap lol.. 🙂 hit me back job! thanks

What Avid system are you working on? I can’t get this deck (BR-DV3000U) to do a digital cut for me. It cues up at the pre-roll point and then says “can’t find coincident point on tape, or this tape is write-protected.”

    My system:

Avid Media Composer v. 10.6.0 (Meridien)
    Power Mac G4, 933 MHz
    Mac OS 9.2.2
    1 GB RAM
    ATTO UL3D SCSI card
    Avid rS MediaDrives
