    Hello Kiya,

I’ve never worked in 720P, but have you tried exporting a quicktime reference from your 720P project (what framerate?), then making an SD project (of the same framerate) and importing it? It should automatically downrez on import, I think. Again, I haven’t worked in 720P, but it’s the first thing that popped into my head.

    Michael.

ji Micheal thank you for coming to my plea. Actually, you made me realize something. I tried that but it didnt work. It imported blank..BUT what i did was open a project with the same framerate and then opened the bin i made the mixdown of the 720p project and transcoded the mixdown to SD and it worked! Thanks for taking the time to look at my desperate plea. NEVER working with 720p again! lol.

But i would like your opinion on something. My master formats are going to be mini Dv and DVD. i know by downconverting my project and then laying it to mini dv is going to loose some quality AND then the client is going to transfer the mini to Beta for airing!! Any better suggestions as far mastering to DVD and Mini DV???

    Appreciate it!!! 😉

I’d see if the client can work with a program mpeg2. It’s easy to create in Sorenson.

As far as 720p, you can mix and match any resolution AS LONG AS (notice the caveat?) it is the same frame rate.

Can you tell me the Export settings to take 720p/23.976 project out and import it back into a capatible SD project. So i can lay it to tape. Im working on Avid Media Composer 2.8 with no additional hardware or software. Except for Procoder. So i need to downconvert HD to SD. How do i bring it out of my HD 23.976 project and back into a SD 30i project? Please help me.

I don’t work with 24p. However, can’t you transcode it (right click the clip, select consolidate / transcode)? Then you don’t have to worry about laying it back to tape…

Hey, I got it working… I used the export settings Quicktime Avid DV codec and screen size to fit. It imported into the 30i project fine… i tried the transcode prior to that but I was a little confused on the choices it provided. But thanks goodness i resolved the problem anyway.. THanks for all your help and support and time! 🙂 much blessings….
