Hey, yeah i just need a better set up to run a multicam pushing HD prores clips. What i ended up doing was down converting to lower res locked my edit and reconnected back to prores. worked out beautifully. Of course this method is only good if youre not dealing with any Graphics.
Anyway thanks for asking!! :-). what was the issue you were having in the first place that you stumbled on this?

Yes I did take the advice of Mark and used the offline RT HD with finding the tutorial on here it helped alot. However because i was already mid workflow i had to do it in a strange way. But im glad i know the answer for now on!

I don’t have the “manual” but im sure its online somewhere. Thanks will researh Offline RT HD. Im just hoping that with me already transcoding my originals via a third party instead of Log and Transfer wont make a difference but i definitely have a feeling it does. And the only reason why i did it that why is because some reason FCP never recognizes my T3i folders when trying to pull them in Log and Transfer. The structure always remained the same, everything copied as is from the card so i dont understand. Never a problem with 5D or 7D or 60D… so im always forced to use Mpeg streamclip…

well i have similar issue although going with setting up a raid is not an option for me. From my research definitely using Prores LT or Proxy will help extremely. Especially if its ONLY 5 cams you cutting with. Just do the offline, lock edit and reconnect to online and you should be fine.
My issue is i have about 11 tracks to cut in multicam and using Proxy codec still isnt enough without slow down process happening ;-(.

Shane this was my question i havent been on here for a while so i kind of got lost in the enormous web of threads on here lol..
“Hi Shane!
“Ive been doing some research, on offline editing in which i never did on my own laptop on much more powerful systems. However now working on my macboo pro. Intel Core i7, 2.66 GHz, 4G. So its definitely not powerful enough for me to multicam edit with 10 – 11 tracks Prores 422. Also With the T3i some reason im never able to transcode via log and transfer with that footage! and havent had the time to do deep research on it due to need to have a quick turnaround. OK so my question to you Mr. Shane 😉 issss converted to Proxys but it still seems its too much for my laptop to handle. Is there another way for me to streamline up to 10 tracks smoothly thats would be even lighter than proxys? I dont have any graphics to use or wont use til the edit is locked in so im not worried about that. ANy advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh keep in mind i used compressor to convert to proxys from my already transcoded footage of Prores 422.
Thank you in advance!! I DESPERATELY NEED A SOLUTION. running out of time..”

Hey, I got it working… I used the export settings Quicktime Avid DV codec and screen size to fit. It imported into the 30i project fine… i tried the transcode prior to that but I was a little confused on the choices it provided. But thanks goodness i resolved the problem anyway.. THanks for all your help and support and time! 🙂 much blessings….
