    Hey yikesmikes,
thanks for your prompt reply – the ambulance just arrived so will have to be brief. I’m using CS3 Windows version; will try to post a project file with my problem on it when the nice doctors have left

    u da man
pity though – I was hoping that it was anything but that – oh well, back to slow renders. Unfortunately, doing the usual thing of updating my ATI drivers simply makes Maya 8.5 crash. Ah, why couldn’t I be a doctor like my mamma said?
Thanks Elvis (never thought I’d ever write that…)

… or your emitters might be placed on your stage at different frames – if the missing one appears when you scrub the time indicator, there’s your problem…

    Hi guys,
I just tried Aharon’s cartoonification process using Illustrator CS3, AE CS3 & the new bridge – only had 14 files to trace but Bridge didn’t give me any error relating to file numbers. I’ll be doing a much bigger project soon so will post my results. That was without making any changes to any file scripts at all.
On a related note – a couple of gotchas to be wary of in the Bridge/Live Trace batch processing:
    1. when you create your ‘cartoon colours’ preset in Illustrator Live Trace Options, make sure that you select “show colour swatches” in the “show swatch kinds menu” option at the bottom of Illustrator’s swatches palette. That way, when you output your new swatches during your test live trace for “cartoon colour”, the newly generated swatches will appear on your workspace. I missed this and spent some time trying to find the mysterious hidden swatches…
    2. In Bridge, when you select Tools>Illustrator>LiveTrace, be sure to set the correct width, height & colour space for the files you’ll be processing. If you miss this, you’ll find that all your output files may be clipped in size to Illustrator’s default ‘new document’ dimensions. Again, took me some time to figure this out. Multimedia students – we’re not all we’re cracked up to be…
