Im playing with Aharon’s cartoonification tutorial and in part two he gets into scripting of Ilust. cs2

i now have cs3 and when i open that particular script he suggests it really doesnt have anything it it. It only says for batch line outline, see the script in Bridge.

would i be correct to assume that i need to fix the code in the bridge script and itll work, or is this effect only possibly with cs2.

    thanks for any help

I’m not sure. Give it a shot in CS3 and see what happens. The 10 image limit may not be an issue any longer.

    thanks aharon,

im on osx, ae7, illus cs3, and when i look in bridge like it suggests i, cant find any scripts that seem to match what was needed.

are you saying you think cs3 just has the fix built in and i may not even need to worry about it?

as of now i dont really have any video i can easily try it on, but if i can ill give it a shot and let you know.

thanks again, i really love this effect, but at the moment have no reason to use it. just learning

    Hi guys,
I just tried Aharon’s cartoonification process using Illustrator CS3, AE CS3 & the new bridge – only had 14 files to trace but Bridge didn’t give me any error relating to file numbers. I’ll be doing a much bigger project soon so will post my results. That was without making any changes to any file scripts at all.
On a related note – a couple of gotchas to be wary of in the Bridge/Live Trace batch processing:
    1. when you create your ‘cartoon colours’ preset in Illustrator Live Trace Options, make sure that you select “show colour swatches” in the “show swatch kinds menu” option at the bottom of Illustrator’s swatches palette. That way, when you output your new swatches during your test live trace for “cartoon colour”, the newly generated swatches will appear on your workspace. I missed this and spent some time trying to find the mysterious hidden swatches…
    2. In Bridge, when you select Tools>Illustrator>LiveTrace, be sure to set the correct width, height & colour space for the files you’ll be processing. If you miss this, you’ll find that all your output files may be clipped in size to Illustrator’s default ‘new document’ dimensions. Again, took me some time to figure this out. Multimedia students – we’re not all we’re cracked up to be…
