I did a quick test and installed Mojave on an external drive an booted my iMac 2017 with it. I was able to install and run photoshop cs6. I didn’t test extensively but it did not crash with the few tests I did. I hope to test more extensively this week.

What’s New in Continuum 2019.5 for OFX (Summary of major changes since Continuum 2019.0):

Spill Remover is a new simple and robust way to remove spill from your key along with a new light wrap approach based on the spill map.
    Light Wrap from Solid Color

Light Wrap (in all filters where it occurs) has a new option to take the light wrap colors from a Solid Color instead of from a background layer which is a handy shortcut for simple scenes.

I was told a few years ago in a support email that it was because of limitations with Apple’s plug in architecture. Also the reason they said that 3D objects were removed. The rep told me to switch to Adobe. Ha! No intention to join the subscription chain. Moved on to Coremelt and others. Still use what I have but don’t plan to update again until they add those features. Which I don’t expect them to ever add to FCPX version.
Hopefully, one day they will prove me wrong.

March 10, 2019 at 2:30 pm in reply to: Looking for name of plugin for film grain

BorisFX has a film looks unit as part of Continuum. Can purchase as a single unit or part of the whole package.
I can’t see the video, plug in unsupported by you can view their examples here: https://borisfx.com/products/continuum-units/film-style/#effects

Development for FCPX has really tailed off. Most of the new features over the last 3 years only work for Adobe or other hosts. But what works in FCPX is top quality. If you buy the unit it works in most hosts. If you buy the full version you have options for one or multiple hosts, but the cost increases.

June 22, 2018 at 1:21 am in reply to: Hackintosh

I built a hackintosh Laptop, actually two, one each for me an my wife about 4 years ago.
I paid right at $300 for an HP probook which was the equivalent computer to a refurb 2012 Macbook Pro that was listed at $899 each. But my Hackintoshbook Pro also had a ssd drive. It is not as nice as the Macbook pro. The keyboard doesn’t light up. The screen doesn’t look near as good. The bluetooth could not be made to work.

But I got a nice quick macbook pro machine for a third of the price and it is still running well 4 years later.

It was a days job to put it together. I make about $200 a day in my job so I am still ahead.
But, I would rather have a real macbook pro.

September 4, 2017 at 11:35 pm in reply to: converting a Mac Mini to a legacy system?

You would need to buy a used mac mini that came out before the version of MacOs you want to use. The 2012 mac minis ran 10.8. Another idea is to use Parallel’s Desktop. I have 10.6, and 10.9 running as virtual machines with Parallels Desktop.

  • Hitfilm has a free version of their plug in package now. So best of both worlds. I guess. I did upgrade during the last sale to the boris CC v10.
