You can add a custom keyboard shortcut (System Preferences :: Keyboard :: Keyboard Shortcuts :: Application Shortcuts) to any menu item in any program. Click on the plus sign. Leave Application as “All Applications” (not sure why, but I couldn’t choose media express). Type “Capture Now” as the menu title and assign a keyboard Shortcut. I used Ctrl-Opt-Command-Space. Click Add and go back to Media Express. Click on file in the menu bar… if you did everything correctly you should see your custom keyboard shortcut listed beside “Capture Now”. Then you will need to purchase something like Remote Buddy (never used, but heard good things about) and map your remote to the shortcut. As long as all 6 minis can see the remote signal at the same time, this SHOULD work.
There may be some other options out there that will allow you to trigger multiple computers using something similar (but fundamentaly different) to teleport, but I can’t think of one.

Only way I can think of starting all 6 at the same time would be to set up some kind of macro and use the apple remote to trigger all at once. Assuming you have timecode sync, you may not need to start them all at the exact same instant.
Other option is to use KiPros… they can all be linked together and start/stop using a master and slaves or a web interface. They actually have ethernet or wifi capability. The KiPro are inherently more stable, but basically double your cost (about 3,995 right now with a 250GB HDD). You can rent them most places for about $600 a week.

I agree, and I typically capture the full HD stream. Long story, but we are capturing individual speakers at a conference, compressing for web, and uploading within one hour. We are capturing a full HD stream using a KiPro as a backup, but we need something that we can quickly convert and get online. There is no option for input processing to 480p. I’m aware of the limitations, but was hoping there was a way to set options within the blackmagic software. I can make it work using FCP or Premiere, but prefer the blackmagic software for ease of use (and cost!).

Having the same issue… can’t save and I’m running the newest version. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Black Magic’s response:
Yes, that was a bug that we discovered after the drivers were released.
Basically it’s a GUI bug where it’s not behaving correctly. Essentially you
can set the setting but the GUI always resets the setting graphically when
you open the panel again. But the setting should still be component etc,
even if the GUI reports otherwise. It has been fixed and should make it into our next driver release. In the
meantime, if it’s a problem, please roll back to a previous version of the
drivers in the meantime.Sorry for the inconvenience.

Same issue here… no matter what I set the input to, it always defaults back to sdi. The only work around I have found is to change the setting and then launch FCP (without closing the system preferences). This seems to work 50% of the time. I’ve contacted Blackmagic and will repost if I get an answer.
