I am taking a 1080i signal input and need to record it as 480p. It works great through Premiere, but I can’t find any settings in Media Express that allow you to control frame rate (or much of anything). Am I missing something or is the feature missing from the software? Is it possible to create our own presets for media express?

    Hi Kirk,
Why aren’t you recording the full HD, posting it and mastering out to 480p as a deliverable? Use max resolution and range until you output masters. Is your deliverable an edited master?

Even if your deliverable is the source footage as 480p, you would have more information and color range if you captured the signal input as full 1080i then use Media Encoder to export your 480p conversion.

    Good luck

James offers you good advice, but for whatever reason if your workflow demands and you chosse not follow it you would change your cross conversion settings in the desktop video pref. panel, under processing.

I agree, and I typically capture the full HD stream. Long story, but we are capturing individual speakers at a conference, compressing for web, and uploading within one hour. We are capturing a full HD stream using a KiPro as a backup, but we need something that we can quickly convert and get online. There is no option for input processing to 480p. I’m aware of the limitations, but was hoping there was a way to set options within the blackmagic software. I can make it work using FCP or Premiere, but prefer the blackmagic software for ease of use (and cost!).
