Had no idea that this site existed. It’s fantastic. Thanks! How often do you update? Don’t worry, I’ll check it out periodically. Looking forward to unleashing some motion power in my work.

So the problem with this Motion update only affects those with the decklink card?
I got scared after reading your posts and haven’t made the plunge. Any problems with the AJA I/O?

Mine has been on for 3 months (just switched from M100) and it is so transparent and bug free that I hardly remember it’s there. And that is working exclusively in 10 bit uncompressed… Not one complaint to date.

Thanks for the food for thought. Excellent cuisine I might add.
[Kelly] “hen, dump that pristine copy out to DVcam in the end.”
Having shot on broadcast level cameras (which we already do) wouldn’t a viable solution be also dumping to DigiBeta for the final Master. I am really concerned about physical tape durability. We archive all our Masters but they are used as reference material from time to time. I’ve heard alot about tape drop outs on the DVCam medium when they are accessed too many times.
Thanks again to you Kelly and to all these wonderful Cow experts.

Wow, what a group of people with great technical know-how! Since I think that the first post was answered well, can I throw out another? What about DV-CAM vs. Digital Beta. I am in roughly the same position as the person in the first post (non-profit organization with a passion for quality). Top notch quality has always been our goal – our footage has remarkable archive value in the sense that it will be consulted and used for many years to come. The money crunch has hit and a few people in my organization are starting to question the cost of DigiBeta (head changes are a big hit to the budget) as opposed to investing in top of the line DVcam. I have been holding out as a DigiBeta supporter stating the tape durability and the 5:1 compression issues. But the DVCam quality at least perceptively seems pretty darn good. Any other arguments on the issue? I of course would prefer to stick with DigiBeta but then again I don’t pay the bills. A DigiBeta head change can run

How are you modifying your Livetype title clips? If you ctl-click on the title clip in the timeline and choose the option “Open in editor” that clip goes straight over to Livetype and the changes you make should be reflected in your FCP clip. You still need to re-render in FCP but the changes made should be there without having to re-import anything.

Thanks Shane. I hadn’t come across the TTTT tool. Very handy indeed. It brought me back to the FCP quick reference guide that lead me to a few more enlightenments.

That is correct, print to EDL but then choose to save the file in the CMX format. That way your reel numbers transfer correctly. If you save it as a SONY 5000 EDL, the reel numbers are translated as 001, 002 etc. With the CMX 3400 or 3600 format FCP asks for the reel numbers in the same way as you numbered them in M100 and you can batch digitize your program flawlessly.
