Thanks a lot for the quick response guys.
I should have mentioned this in my OP, when I play out to tape, I need 2 tracks of audio, Full mix and Int’l. So I can’t mute any part of either tracks.

I do that too. Import into iPhoto and create a sledeshow. When done, export it as ProRes 422. Pretty simple.

I agree with Sareesh. You should consider the Panny GH3, a great camera. Also the 12-35 lens, a great lens for the money.

January 29, 2013 at 1:47 am in reply to: Is FCPX gaining any ground?

I’ve been editing for over 16 years now, 7 years with Avid MC and then switched to FCP. I’ve also been test driving CS 6 PrPro. When FCP X was released, I didn’t think much of it especially with all the negative reviews it got. I mainly edit sports highlights (mainly golf) on-site as part of the OB. I gave FCP X a shot a couple of months back and never went back to FCP 7 or PrPro. For what I need, it is super fast. I use a retina MBP 15″, Matrox MX02 and a Promise R4 8TB. I’m just loving FCP X. I don’t think I’d go for FCP X in a shared environment or cutting long form. But personally, I wouldn’t want to cut long form anyway. FCP X first and then PrPro second for me for what I do.

  • Agree with Steve. I’ve ben doing the same for the last 4 years. I use my IOHD or MX02 to play out video through the router to the EVS. Exporting/importing files might be easier for some, but I find ingesting and playing out SDI video straightforward and hassle free, especially for the EVS operators:-)

September 10, 2012 at 11:32 pm in reply to: AJA IO XT or Blackmagic Ultrastudio 3d for FCP 7?

Thanks Steve. I’ve sold the IO HD as the MX02LE is easier to hand carry when flying. The TB adapter for my MX02/LE is an option I considered. I think I’ll stick to it for now. I always felt that AJA products had better up/down/cross conversion. You using TB storage by any chance?
