  • [Herb Sevush] “To me Motion is an “editors” tool and AE is an “EFX/Compositors” tool”
True. Motion was designed by an editor. I find it much easier to use Motion than AE. I’m in and out of Motion faster, resulting in me using the software a lot more:) AE is very powerful as everyone knows, just not for me.

The NewTek 3Play 440 is around 25K and great value. The Zeplay, if im not mistaken, is around 70K. Am not sure about the Mira, but i’ve sen the 3Play in action and seems to be really good. Also, it’s pretty easy to learn to operate.

January 13, 2015 at 6:27 am in reply to: D600, Does it output 422?

A lot of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras output 4:2:0 through HDMI. I usually use GH4s as it outputs 10 bit 4:2:2 to the external recorders. If I’m not mistaken. the D600 outputs 8 bit 4:2:2.

[Herb Sevush] “Amen to that. it would be like judging X on a first year version. I believe you get a free one month trial for the cloud, so if your OK with the subscription mode I would try that out instead. Ppro is a very rapidly evolving system”

Yup. Thanks Herb. Will download the free trial and also try one of the tutorials, either Lynda.com or Adobe press.

[Andrew Kimery] “Just throwing this out Kannan, but PPro in CS6 is pretty sucky compared to CC/CC2014 so I wouldn’t make any final judgement calls on PPro based on such an old version”

Thanks Andrew. Will try out the free trial. Between Lynda.com and Adobe press, which one would you suggest for somone new to PrPro?
    Cheers

I just fo shed my last job on FCP7. Trying out PrPro now, CS6. If I’m comfortable , will get CC. Got FCPX too. I’ve edited a couple of jobs on X. Gonna sell my 2009 MacPro and buy a new 5k iMac. My 15″ retina MBP is going strong. I use Pegasus and GRaid Thunderbolt storage. Most of my work is on-site editing of sporting events, usually in an OB truck.
