In your original post, you said you imported the clips. Did you import, or AMA link to, and then transcode? Just curious. Also, have you run the Canon AMA installer? Let me know.

May 17, 2013 at 4:52 am in reply to: MC 6.5.2 crashing while transcoding: “Segmentation fault” in thread “MainThread”Hey Meg,
First, update to 6.5.2.1, to make sure it’s not a bug that has been fixed. What is the original source you’re importing from? Just the fact that it’s doing the same thing on two different systems leads me down the “bug” road. Let me know.

Hey Daniel,
All you should have to do is to switch your project over to a 1080 23.98 project setting (in the “Format” tab), and once you do this, all your import settings will change and be updated for the HD codecs. Also, there is no relinking required. Once a clip is in a timeline, it’s there, SD or HD. You should be able to now delete all your SD media, and just batch import (that’s the important part, batch import, not re-import) your clips, and your timelines will re-populate with the nice, clean HD footage, and you should be all set to go. If in doubt, follow the above, but only delete one clip, and give it a whirl. Once you see that it works, do it with all your clips. Hope this helps.

Hey Dan,
The column you want to look at to see what resolution your footage has been transcoded to is called “Video”, so head over to the “hamburger” at the bottom left of the bin, click it, select “Choose Columns”, and then make sure Video is selected. Then, make sure you project is set to HD in the “Format” tab in the main project window. Let me know if this helps.

May 10, 2013 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Avid Symphony 6.0.3 won’t launch, error message and console details in postHey Frances,
Update first. Then, try booting up with the MOJO off, and see what happens. If the application launches, you’ve narrowed it down to a hardware issue, then do the power cycle. Keep me posted.

May 10, 2013 at 3:03 pm in reply to: Avid Symphony 6.0.3 won’t launch, error message and console details in postHey Frances,
Two things. First, update your Symphony to 6.0.3.4, the newest patch update for that version of Symphony. Next, I’m assuming you’re using Nitris hardware. Try a complete shutdown, and shut off the Nitris box by unplugging it. Wait 10 seconds, plug in back in, and power up to see if this resolves the issue. Keep me posted.

Hey Jacky,
I’m not sure why the editor would need you to transcode the footage for them. You should be able to take all the Pro Res footage on a drive, and send it to the editor. If they are working on an older Windows machine, they would just need the Pro Res Windows QT codec, and then then could simply import at the desired resolution. I.E. – If you’re sending them 1080 23.98 Pro Res footage, they can import at DNX HD 115 or 175 depending on what quality they want to work in, or i’m pretty sure with v5.5 they could just AMA link to the footage in a matching project, and be up and running in minutes, instead of waiting for the long imports. Their choice. Hope this helps.
