Follow up.

After I finished the project, I rendered to mp4 and those times were basically the same across the board exactly as you predicted.
For me, the important point is to use separate drives when rendering without re-compression. A nice time savings when De-interlacing in Lossless format considering you’re in the middle of the project.

My SSD has almost identical read/write speeds and it’s more than double my 7200rpm hard drive in sustained speed. 250MB/s vs 115MB/s

That video card seems underpowered for an i7 CPU.

I have an Acer Laptop. AMD 970N quad 2.2GHz/6650M video. it’s well balanced.
30% slower than my 965×4 desktop with dual MSI6850 video cards.
But this laptop is dual purpose. I only paid $630 from newegg. Save money buy another in a year or two. I sold my old one for $250 and it was 3 years old. fleabay is wonderful.

I build our desktops. at least one a year. Just remember to try and research benchmarks for your application. Each cpu can perform better at some tasks than others. Most of the time you do get faster when you spend more money but verify the application.

I’m using the 64bit version of SV. Lagarith says it’s for both.

I used the Sony YUV codec and it worked. Still no luck with the Lagarith codec. I did uninstall/restart/reinstall and still get the error.

I also downloaded the MSU codec as I read that it had some advantages but that isn’t showing up in my list. Any suggestions?

I appreciate your fast reply. I’m not quitting. I like what I have been able to do so far with Vegas. This method of getting 60p accomplishes one of the short comings of my canon. As I need to produce slow motion for Pole Vaulting Training Videos. And 1080 isn’t as important. If I understand this process correctly, when I’m done I end up with 1920x540x2 resolution? double lines of data?
