I’m trying to learn out to create slow motion from 60i video.
I installed the Lagarith Codec. Now Vegas will not open it’s own created file.

“An error occurred while trying to open a codec.”

Did the codec not install correctly?

I can’t find any similar postings.

    I’m running win 7 x64 quadcore AMD 4gigs mem.

    TIA

Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vegas Pro? You need to install either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Lagarith as well. Try re-installing the codec.

I’m using the 64bit version of SV. Lagarith says it’s for both.

I used the Sony YUV codec and it worked. Still no luck with the Lagarith codec. I did uninstall/restart/reinstall and still get the error.

I also downloaded the MSU codec as I read that it had some advantages but that isn’t showing up in my list. Any suggestions?

I appreciate your fast reply. I’m not quitting. I like what I have been able to do so far with Vegas. This method of getting 60p accomplishes one of the short comings of my canon. As I need to produce slow motion for Pole Vaulting Training Videos. And 1080 isn’t as important. If I understand this process correctly, when I’m done I end up with 1920x540x2 resolution? double lines of data?

    Thanks.

I am running a Win7 x64 duocore with Vegas 10 and successfully use the Lagarith codec. The only problem since using V10 that I noticed is that either, rendering out clips from Vegas using the Lagarith codec WITH alpha channels is NOT working OR V10 is successfully rendering alphas, but V10 is not recognizing the alphas when bringing the clip back in. I never had this problem from previous Vegas’.

Yes, you wil still have 1080 lines of vertical resolution, they will just be made up from 540 doubled lines so the image may be a bit softer. You should also shoot with a high shutter speed so that the individual frames won’t be blurry.
