That is the same for me. However, even a full 32GB CF transfers very quickly so I just
transfer the whole thing and then delete what I don’t want once it is transfered.

The way I deal with it, which actually works pretty well for me, I just bring it in as HDV and
then drop it onto an Apple Pro Res timeline. The log and transfer with the HDV media goes
very fast. If it were transcoded to APR on ingest, it would take a while so bringing it in Native
and dropping it on the APR timeline works well for me. If you shoot 24fps then Sony does include
an option to transcode to APR 24fps via Log and Transfer.

That is the only way you can bring them in. That isn’t the issue. I can bring them
in to final cut just fine with my flash card reader using Log and Transfer but only as
HDV. There is no way to transcode them to Apple Pro Res when using Log and Transfer
except if you are working at 24fps.

February 22, 2011 at 11:44 pm in reply to: Adding Audio Delay in FCP

    Andrew,

Did you ever solve this one? I am trying to solve the same problem. The Frame offset advise
is recommended over and over again and it is useless. It also only works as you describe, over firewire.
If audio could be routed to Firewire while video run to Cinema Desktop, the frame offset might work
but when I try to do that with a firewire camcorder, there is no way to separate the audio from the video.
Maybe with a dedicated Audio firewire interface that option might work.
I picked up a new 37″ TV that I am using as a monitor but the audio out of final cut is about 4 or 5 frames
ahead of the video on the new display. I can slip my audio tracks by that much and it syncs perfectly but
that is not the solution. I just need to delay the audio going to my audio monitors by 120ms so that the
audio is in sync with the video. There are hardware boxes that are sold for home entertainment systems
that solve this problem but I hate to buy a dedicated box just to add 120ms of audio delay. I am curious
    if you found a solution.

The idea is to have Final Cut transcode the data when you Log and Transfer. It will for 24P material from the MRC1 but not for anything
else which doesn’t make any sense.

I had the same problem bringing Live Type files into a Final Cut 1080P Apple Pro Res sequence.
    This was our fix:

LIve Type creates a Movie that uses the Animation CODEC. This looks fine on its own but when
it is imported into Final Cut and rendered, the text looks Lo Res and jagged. If you first open the
Live Type movies in the Quicktime Player and export them as Apple Pro Res (in our case since that
is the compressor we are using) the resulting movie, when imported into Final Cut looks fine.

January 13, 2010 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Missing File Extensions

There is a real problem with Log and Capture in Final Cut 7 with missing extensions when capturing
as Apple Pro Res. The mov extension is not there (not in get info, not when “Show Extensions” is enabled). I have had to copy and paste .mov onto file names. This is something that cropped up in
the last few months. The captured Apple Pro Res files will work on the system they were captured on
with the original project but as soon as the files are moved to another system or attempted to be imported into a new project, they are invalid files until .mov is pasted on the end. This is becoming a real pain. Has anyone figured out a fix for this?

Not much help here except to say It is the same for me. I have been posting for a few months
about this product but so far yet to find any solutions. My issue is that you can only import video
from the unit as HDV and not Apple Pro Res unless you are shooting 24FPS which has been extremely frustrating.
