[Bret Williams] “Copy and paste should have nothing to do with track assignments. Even after you told me it could be copied and pasted I still had to take time to figure it out. Apparently it only will paste to where the playhead is, if the track is enabled. “Sorry these items are not working the way you want them to. Hi Bret,
No, copy/paste works just fine, though. If you want to copy transitions by Option dragging, make a request.[Bret Williams] “depending on where I drop it, it’s a start on edit, center on edit, or end on edit.”
Dragging from the Effects tab, you can do that. You can also open a transition and change it to start, end, or be centered on the cut. If you want to Option drag to a new cut and place it on the start or end of a cut, make a request.

Make sure the track is selected for the clip you want to paste to.

In the mean time, enable snapping or just use the Option + Up arrow shortcut to nudge a clip to the next track if you are on Premiere Pro CC.Thanks,

Hi Bill,
CS5 is a number of versions in the past. You’ll find the more current you go with Premiere Pro, the more FCP like behaviors you’ll find.[Bill Thomas] “1. How can I get the playhead to snap to an edit or beginning or end of clip? When I have SNAP enabled, my clips will snap to each other but the playhead won’t snap to a clip (similar to the N command in FCP).”
Try Shift + drag with snapping enabled.
[Bill Thomas] “2. Is there an easy way to view the whole timeline in one click? (Similar to Shift-Z in FCP)”
Try the back slash key.
[Bill Thomas] “3. To zoom in and out of the timeline, I now use Option-Mousewheel. Is there another way that’s strictly a keyboard command?”
Try the + key.

Just drag it, you don’t need the Shift key. Tool tip should verify that.

Hi Aaron,
Can you give us more info? Which version of Premiere Pro are you running?In Premiere Pro CC you could import sequences from other projects, and then unlink media in those sequences. Relinking to original media should not be a problem. After you relink, you can delete any media you are not using.
