CNTRL + K will add a “Global” motion keyframe. IOW, almost all of the motion properties will be keyframed. No such shortcut for your Filters or Generators, unfortunately.

Check basic system setup in the manual. If you are running DV, the default way is to connect both your video monitor and speakers out of the deck or camcorder.
Practically everyone ignores the manual, so many don’t even bother with proper system setup-use no video monitor and wrongly connect speakers out of the Mac.
If you use a capture card, then the video monitor and speakers are to be connected out of there. Io? Connect everything out of the Io box.
Now you know the correct methods. 😉

Glad it worked out for you. I have found that when I output from a FireWire drive from my lowly powerbook, I don’t even bother trying to output my timeline without pumping out a ref movie first.
With faster drives, this isn’t necessary, so it saves a wee bit of time.

I’d add Motion and the cool text engine inside of After Effects 6.5. Both are really great.
For subtitles though, I’d look into the Belle-Nuit plug in. I’ve heard that it’s the cat’s pajamas.

Nope. Never needed to. If I need production stills, I hire a photographer to show up at the shoot. That’s the best way.

White text rolling on a black background is the single most difficult thing to do on any NLE. Try to avoid doing this if you can. Title 3D has always given me decent results.
