Ahhh yes, now it is sooo clear! I understood that 16:9 was just a re-configuration of pixels, but I wasn’t sure how this translated into settings for the programs, I’m a bit of a jack of all trades here. Basically I AM the creative department, so I am playing catch up on a lot of this stuff… hence why I post so often on the different forums here.

Thanks for the tip, and uh… no hard feelings ; -)

You mean you can read those things!? ; )

A little tweaking the monitor was all it took. I’m new to colour correction, any tips?

That’s my rule of thumb, but I just shot some footage, and the flesh tones are perfect on the cinema display, but the NTSC looks orange, yet my bars are set correctly. I’ll still go with the ntsc, like a wise man once said when asked what ntsc stood for… “NTSC? Never The Same Color!”

    Thanks

The problem I had was the edges of the images were jagged and dark, but control clicking the clip in the timeline, and adjusting the alpha settings seems to have taken care of the problem.

    Thanks for listening

  • A quick fix is to check the anamorphic column for the sequence.

yah, I checked on the memory issue, and all seems ok, I think the problem was I was applying the effect to video. I made a still, and I was able to use the effect, now the real question here is, how do use Particle Playground? I just don’t get it.

Have a good weekend, I can’t wait to hear more on Monday.

What about the monitor, what is best… will any old HDTV do? and what about the whole apple cinema display deal. Will one of those work? and can a G4 power one?

    uuugh. so many questions!

Normally the work I do has it’s final output to NTSC. This project is for a CDROM. So I have been messing about with the different codecs, and field interpolation. I think I got it all sorted out, the last combination seems to have worked. This was the only clip giving me a problem. The big issue I think is that you can really see why you shouldn’t key with DV. The tighter shots worked out alright, but you lose alot of detail in the faces on the wide. This is where the problem was. The dudes face looked like a big ‘ol pixelated mess. Atleast on the canvas it did. Anyway, I got it to work, so thanks for your help.
