Thanks for the quick reply Shane. In your opinion, how much do you estimate I could sell this system for? Included is 4 Drives with almost 4 TB Storage….

Thanks for your reply guys, the designer is not just throwing the track on, rather, he is using a different track as a build and adding effects, risers, etc, afterwards, ‘Scoring’ the track rather than using stock music. My question is, Should I establish a Tempo with the designer, before I even begin the edit? Use my own choice of music and edit entirely to that, and have him score afterwards? Or, as you mentioned John, have him choose the track I edit too?……The Problem that I see here is, it seems like the BPM/Tempo need to match on both my end and his. So If he chooses a temp track that is just Ambient/drones, adding the score later, and I have an edit I want that is fast cuts intermixed with slower shots, its hard to do without shaping it to the music. So do I establish that myself and have him build around it? So essentially, I would finish the whole edit with music myself, and hand off to him to score…..Or is there another way that designers and editors work together throughout the edit?
    Thanks Again

Thanks Ben, I actually do have a counter offer from another company. I’m not set on staying in one spot, I’ve already moved around quite a bit and am just advancing my career in any way possible(including salary). 5% sounds reasonable, but what about asking for the title of ‘Senior Editor’ and taking on more responsibilities? Is that title worth much these days when employers are looking for candidates?? Or is it simply based on skill and experience, other than responsibilities? My issue now is that I am in an underpaid and understaffed position, doing quality work with on air promos but also grunt work like tagging spots which a PA or assistant editor should be doing (Which we do not have at our disposal)

Thanks Walter, I know that the norm is about 3-4% and that our company is on a pretty strict budget, but all the heads of the company recognize my potential and they have been in the industry for years…Do you have any advice on negotiating, with the company I currently work for and others that are interested in me? Thanks again.

Yeah that deck is manually set to HDV and says the signal is not recognized, so I changed it to DV and it plays fine. All the tapes are shot as HDV and most of the time the deck plays them fine as HDV. but once in awhile I get a tape that is recognized only as DV on the deck, and it was shot as HDV
