    Cheers Bob,
On first appearances it may have sorted the issue but would like to do further testing as have not put it thro’ its paces.
Appreciate you coming back so swiftly.

Oh I wish my issue was as well behaved. Can take a bit of messing around to get rid off.
I look forward to what Aja make of it.

A further point, I can create this echo fx by bringing up the sound prefs whilst in FCP or soundtrack. Closing the prefs
seems to clear the problem so it seems the sound prefs are corrupting or something. So if you bring up the prefs and close them down again, should keep pushing the problem away til aja
    resolve it.

    Hi Javier,
I’m having the same issues as yourself and I have the same spec as yourself. Aja support are aware of this as I contacted them yesterday.
I throw away fcp prefs and that sorts the issue but I don’t know for how long.
Hopefully there will be an answer soon.I’ll keep you posted
    if theres a cure.

As far as editing is concerned, I’ll take that as a NO… For dicking around I guess it does.
Will wait for the green light which sounds like December.
    Thanks all for your input.

Would be agood idea to check your quicktimes outside of FCP, then if all is OK , check your timeline settings in FCP and see they match those of your footage. Further, check your footage resides on drives separate from where your project is being saved.
    Goodluck

Thanks zrb, good suggestion as I don’t feel I’m seeing a vast speed increase from the quad 3 I’ve just come from.
Th octo came with 10.4.9 and the old quad is now on 10.4.10 so maybe it wouldn’t be possible. I had to upgrade to 10.4.10 to get the new updates for FCP to work..

Just out of curiousity should I be seeing a speed increase in the Octo from the Quad.
FCP just tickles the 8 CPUs unlike compressor.
    Cheers

Thanks zrb…Have moved everything across successfully…only problem
was the sapphires who interogate mc id, all the others look at the Mac OX registration…(I Think). Either way, done some tests and all looks good. Checked out the processors and all 8 are working, FCP doesn’t appear that much faster it has to be said …(way to go Leopard). It was certainly alot faster than installing everthing from scratch. I’ll sort out the quad later when I decide what to do with her. A novel way to upgrade I know…but it looks at first hand as though it was worth it.
    Thanks

Lee’s correct Walter, I have moved the HD and cards across between the machines and then fired up. The first problem is my Sapphire plugins as they access the machime ID, so this is being abit problematic as I’ll have to uninstall on the quad to release the number for the Octo. But the big question is: are there any other components I’ll be missing. Thanks to both coming back so quickly.
