IOHD Echo Issue
Posted by Javier Escobar on February 26, 2008 at 5:56 pmHey guys, I upgraded to newest AJA IoHD 5.1.1. It resolved my audio blackout issue. However now after editing for a couple of hours, I start getting this echo effect. It’s like the audio repeats itself every half a second or so.
Only a system restart fixes it. A FCP update doesn’t do the trick.
OSX 10.4.11
2x 3 GHZ Quad-Core Xeon
8GB 667 MHZ DDR2 RAMAny hints?

February 27, 2008 at 12:35 pmHi Javier,
I’m having the same issues as yourself and I have the same spec as yourself. Aja support are aware of this as I contacted them yesterday.
I throw away fcp prefs and that sorts the issue but I don’t know for how long.
Hopefully there will be an answer soon.I’ll keep you posted
if theres a cure.Kev

February 27, 2008 at 1:11 pmA further point, I can create this echo fx by bringing up the sound prefs whilst in FCP or soundtrack. Closing the prefs
seems to clear the problem so it seems the sound prefs are corrupting or something. So if you bring up the prefs and close them down again, should keep pushing the problem away til aja
resolve it.

February 27, 2008 at 4:30 pmI’ve had this issue as well. What I do is click on another clip in the sequence that has audio, play that for a second, then go back to the clip that had the echo and it seems to stop.

February 27, 2008 at 5:26 pmOh I wish my issue was as well behaved. Can take a bit of messing around to get rid off.
I look forward to what Aja make of it. -

February 29, 2008 at 2:49 pmDid you download and install the new AJA 5.1.1 software update? The old version was simply 5.1 software. When I put the new version on, I also had to update the firmware.

March 3, 2008 at 4:47 pmIf you select sound prefs-output and instead of having aja io
put internal speakers, this appears to stop the echo.
Not obvious I know as you would expect o/p to be iohd, so the iohd must be live regardless of o/p in sound prefs.
Hope this helps…and wasn’t in the manual! -
