and I wish everyone would adhere to this. I deal with broadcast masters on a daily basis, and I get stuff from editors all over the US, and I would say that only 10% come in right. People aren’t tought production standards anymore, they grab a camcorder, and suddenly they are a producer.

The only thing I have been able to track down is that if it is a 10 bit clip it will work. 8 bit clips do not transfer.

I feel your pain. I do lots of compositing and color correction, and my clients are asking why haven’t you moved to final cut? Answer is I can do all that I can do in my old app. I am even ebarassed to tell any one what I do most of ther effects in. I still use an old Speed Razor system for most of my final comps. Why? Versatility and color depth. I have begun testing the new PP2.0 with Xena HS, and it is preforming surprisingly well. I even have a FCP 4.5 setup, but I am continuallly disappointed in the simplest things. I will be waiting for the extreme version to see what that comes with. True 32 bit float, and sub-pixel rendering, please!!!

  • premiere will only capture avi files. I can send you some test files, or post them on an FTP site if you wish.

The xena LH card however will work well in AE as a great frame buffer.

The Machina App captures quicktime and only works with the LH series not the HS series that adobe works with.

Ok I know no one cares but me, it seems I am the only one whoactually already owned a whole host of XENA cards when this came out, but I have arrived at the solution. 10 bit mode. My first tests were in 8 bit mode, and there was no compatibilty with the rest of the world. When I continued into 10 bit everything started huming along.

Funny aside… After Effects 6.0 is still not compatible, but combustion is in all of its versions.

but the capture dialog is still a window, and when you tear a panel off it becomes a window.

Check the properties (ctrl-j) of the file in QT. Findout the codec bitdepth and sample rate for the audio track, and report back. I have seen this many times, and itusually involves resaving the quictime in quicktime with a different audio track

The Adobe website will tell you what you need. You just select the product you have, and it will give you your options.
