    Alan,
The biggest problem with “compatible” cartridges is that many of them aren’t. The electronic chip is the culprit more than the ink type.
Many times the printer won’t even recognize the good Epson cartridges with one of the “compatibles” installed. The Ebay “inkjet king 99” ones are particularly onerous…and forget about any guarantee, you’ll never see your money again from those guys.

The most reliable place I’ve found is think4ink. Their kits are truly compatible with Epson ones and they stand behind their products with a real guarantee. I have been using their inkjet replacements for years and haven’t had a dud yet (no, I don’t work for them…just a satisfied customer).
Buy a couple of sets (or anything over $45) and they ship free.
    Hope this helps.

Files created in PI need to be rendered. You can export a picture sequence (I use .PNG files for Vegas), with or without the background scene.
Turning off the BG in PI when rendering and saving the alpha channel gives greater flexibility of the PI element in post…you can further adjust transparency, etc. if that element is separate from the BG.
    Hope this helps.

    May 22, 2006 at 4:23 pm in reply to: wax 2e – nightmare….

    leslie,
Wax did the same to me with Vegas 4.0e. It seem to be a “hit and miss” program depending on the system…works ok or kills Vegas. I still use the original 3dLE plug in with great results.
    Hope this helps.

I downloaded the demo…nice stuff. Although the authors specify WinXP or better, the FX seem to work fine on W2k with Vegas 4.0e.

    Thanks!

April 4, 2006 at 2:08 am in reply to: Blank render problem

    Thanks Mark,
I rendered the file without using lights and it was ok. If I use lights (in any configuration) the white letter/black BG problem on rendering occurs.
I’ll try the quicktime output and see if that makes a difference.
    Thanks again,

Just turn off the background button for your layer (the stage window will reflect this) and render to a format with an alpha channel.
    Hope this helps.

April 3, 2006 at 5:04 pm in reply to: No fonts in Red 3.02

    Thanks flip,
I did that and as the fonts were loading, the error msg. popped up (Red has generated errors and wil be closed, etc…). As the font loading nears the end of the list, Red finds a font file it doesn’t like and crashes to the desktop. I finally hit the “stop” button about 3/4 of the way through the loading process, and was able to get many fonts installed. I still don’t know what the problem is though. Maybe a limit on number of fonts in Red??
Red 3.02 has been more flakey than 3.01.
    Thanks for your help.

    Nope, a PC.
I finally found those settings as you described. Guess I’ll need to save my original text gradient (it has 3 color settings instead of the 2 in in the 3D extrusion window).
Wasn’t aware there was a new version since August.
    Thanks again,

December 30, 2005 at 5:16 pm in reply to: help with titles in RedGL

    Stephen,
Dowloaded the file, but it won’t open in Red (“This file is not compatible with this version of Red, etc.”). I think I’m using the latest version:
3.0.2.1004 from August ’05. Under properties, my Red file version is 3.0.2.050211. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.
