Do you use After Effects? I have just installed the C4D plugin that lets you import camera data, etc. from C4D into AE, and it’s fantastic.

Also, when I render a texture successfully in C4D, I can see it has been softened, which I don’t see in AE. When you have a softened element comped over a perfect, crisp 3D render, it can be pretty noticeable. Plus, AE renders the same effect far faster.

Pay attention to the frame rate of your video texture in your final render. I have had the experience that sometime C4D will drop frames when using quicktime as a texture. Now I usually convert a movie into an image sequence to be on the safe side.

Also, make sure your movie texture has no fields. That can look pretty crappy going through C4D, too.

Under File choose Interpret Footage, and under that choose Lower Field First, assuming this is DV footage

    Adam:

RE question 1: I did not know that. Thank you, that was most helpful. I already have AA set at Best, but the baked textures look aliased.

I am already using the bake tag rather than bake object. I am using all the layers, but I wish there were a couple more. Specifically I would like it to render out radiosity as a channel. I would like to try putting a baked radiosity texture into the luminance channel on a texture. It doesn’t seem like such a texture would have to be very large at all to give a good effect. Unfortunately, it isn’t an option. Is it in 10.5?

RE Question 2: I do want all the layers, but this is good advice for other, smaller elements that aren’t so much in the forefront of the animation. If I could get them all processing as one thing, that would be nice. Again, very helpful. Thanks again.
