OK, how and where do I get the latest codecs?

This was an upgrade install. I have tried exporting from both FCPX and Compressor (mp4 and m2v). Mostly Built-In present and ever tried modifying some settings but not sure how they are affecting any difference. I don’t have any user login setting for FCPX. This is my 1st project in 10.2 and don’t know what codecs I might be using other than whats use for mp4 and m2v. Haven’t tired ProRes yet since I use that to archive the master. I’ll run that but may not provide any info since as far as the DVD, I still have to provide an m2v file for DVD. Maybe convert the ProRes to mp4? But why? FCPX should work as it did in 10.2.

I haven’t attempted to uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks Joe. I know there are many ways to approach editing weddings in FCPX and keywords are … KEY in projects like this. I have to keep remembering that FCPX is much smarter than my old NLE it is replacing.

The multicam editing isn’t the real issue. How are your organizing to media for a weeding? Library, Event and project. Would like to know you MO for wedding.

EditReady has a few audio transcode options (Passthrough or change nothing, Uncompressed PCM and 2 AAC options). I guess I can test each one out and see if the problem lies in there.

I have no audio plugins at this time. Original footage was shot in HDV and ran through EditReady what makes a MOV file. This MOV’s audio plays fine by itself. But from within FCPX I get these “skips” in the audio. I can them “skips” as that someone else had this problem and the audio example was the same. I’m not sure what I selected for audio transcoding in EditReady.

Also told FCPX doesn’t like MP3s and prefers WAV or AIFF files.

I have been producing 120 min single layer DVDs for over 13 years with no issues. Even up to 135 mins. Though I would not recommend it because at that point you do start to see the difference. Blu-ray’s do provide a much higher quality image since it is HD. Just did a 90 min project on compressed it to 4GB for DVD, 16GB for BD and Flash Drive.

I will try that, but the tiny window showing the main menu screen is so small you can’t see what it looks like or edit any of the text on it. And I have an iMac 27″.

I do process a lot of programs to disk that only require a static main menu to play one program. For programs that require lots of chapter stops and higher end wedding multi menus for DVD and BD, I use Encore.

I think I found a process on how to import HDV 1080/60i data and make it progressive to eliminate the interlace problem. Testing that now. But if somebody has a workflow already, let me know. I don’t want to have to re-invent the wheel.
