My source is coming from a VCR. Remember those? I can use S-video, component, composite or HDMI 1.0 out. Would FCPX (Catalina) even recognize any of these as inputs? My iMac has 2 Thunderbold 2 inputs.

System: iMac, Mojave 10.14.6, 32GB RAM, 2 9TB external RAIDs, 5 other external storage drives.

    FCPX 10.4.10

Libraries and media for this film are all on same external RAID.

This problem was solved by running a Share of the Project from frame 1 to several frames after the error frame number as Part 1. I then ran Share from the last frame from Part 1 to the end of the Project and Part 2. Made a new Project and dropped in Part 1 and 2 and Shared that out with no problems. Go figure.

I can no longer Share or have Compressor render any of my new and older FCPX files. I always get this frame error message. Most of the time that frame number is just at a black frame in the video. Like at the end of a fade to black. The last Share I tried it crashed at frame 0.

My cache file is in the Library and I can’t find it. And how do I delete my Preferences?

Until this get fixed, I’m out of a job!

    Thanks for any feedback.

The Sony Z7U camera does have an HDMI out that I could connect right to my Atoms 4K recorder, BUT that HDMI output on the camera is ONLY for live output. Not from the tape playback. Dumb move on Sony. (Maybe one of the many reasons I went back to Panasonic). The best bet so far is the cameras FW400 output.

I already have both an SRT file and an SCC file created that I can import into my FCPX project. Are you saying I just need to import the SCC file I will be able to Export it out as an embedded file and it will appear as an option in the “Embed CEA-608” dropdown menu, I’ll be good to go? Go where?

Do I need to take my MOV or MP4 file into a DVD/BD authoring software that supports captions/subtitles? Does the authoring software need to do anything to the embedded SCC file to make it active on the DVD/BD? Or will my usual DVD/BD software be able to produce a single ISO file that I burn to disc and the viewer will have access to turn on or off CC?

If I do need an authoring DVD/BD software that DOES support, who has it? I can’t find any yet. The old DVD Studio Pro could do it but that doesn’t even work in Mojave. Adobe Encore CS6 says they do but it doesn’t work. All DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K disc released for retail sales have to have CC. So there has to be software out there that can do it.

My captions were created by Rev.com and I have both .SRT and .CSS files I can use. The .SRT file is currently in the projects timeline.

When I try to Export the embed captions with Embed CEA-608, there are no options available. It says NONE and is ghosted.

Should I try again using the .CSS file?

In FCPX there are only 2 options for captions, burn them into the video or save as a separate file. There is no embed SRT into the MOV video file. What am I missing here?

Ray, I’m in the same boat. I need a new DVD/BD authoring software that supports closed captions/subtitling. Ive spent a week search for something. Can’t get Encore CS6 on my Mac to accept CC/subtitles files. I used DVDA way back when I was on Sony Vegas Pro 12 but never looked into CC or subtitles.

If you find something, let me know.

Do I need a DVD/BD authoring software program that supports CC? What do you recommend? I need to create menus and scene selections.
