I’ve got a dual Xeon 2.85GHz, with 8-cores and 16GB and a GTX470 graphics card in my current computer. Good, bad, ugly?

    Thanks.

I just download the current updates for CS4 and this time Encore did not crash. I’ve got to do another one later today. Hope I get the same results.

I just ran those tests. Projects with no menus went through fine. Projects with menus crash. So something changed. When the last project went through OK and now it does not………….!! And it starts right after Encore goes into the Build process.

Well, I have 16GB or RAM and a GeForce 8800GT card. I did get a “save now, running low memory” message. I had nothing else running. How can this be?

All my files are pre-transcoded so Encore doesn’t have to do that. This is my 4th Encore project with 2 or more motion menus. I’ve also done about 6 without any menus. All with no problem until now. Is it my project? Did something change on my system?

I’m running tests now to see if its the project or software/hardware issue.

    Thanks,

    Guille,

Coming to Premiere Pro CS5 from Vegas Pro, how was the learning curve for you? Not knowing much about Premiere, do they have the same set up to where you can apply effects to an entire track as in Vegas? I like that you can add effects to the “event”, “track” or “project” in Vegas. Same in Premiere?

    Thanks.

August 4, 2010 at 9:41 pm in reply to: RAID Controllers & Graphics Cars for Vegas?

Well, upgrading MOBOs would be a major step, but not entirely out of the question. I will be talking with Sony tomorrow and see what they can do about getting my Vegas 9.0x to work. I have a 2314 RocketRAID card that is driving one external 6TB RAID-5 box. My graphics card is a GeForce 8800GT. People are pointing their fingers at the RAID or graphics cards being the cause of all my problems. So, if I get a good list of “working” components from Vegas users who’s software isn’t crashing…. maybe I can find the right combo to get mine running.

    Alf,

Yes, when Vegas crashes I get that window to tell them what I was doing at the time. Sent so many of them I just now close it down.

The “so-called” bad clip in Vegas that works fine in the other NLEs, all are on the same computer using the exact same file.

The only 3rd party stuff I have for Vegas is from NewBlue.

As far as the RAID controllers, I think I’ll try something other that RocketRAID. Then maybe upgrade my graphics card. But I’m not paying $3K for one.

I will give Sony a call and give them a chance to save one customer. I’ll also try uninstalling the RAID card and see if that makes any difference. Most of my drive are Seagates and there was an issues with 1.5GB drives which I have 4 in the external RAID which is the only RAID I’m using right now.

So before I look into switching a graphics card, we’ll make sure it’s not the RAID.

Norm- The Supermicro Extreme is the same box I have. Though they don’t tell you the model number of the MOBO. I wonder if the Quadros FX3800 is an over kill?

Going back to the graphics card, is my GeForce 8800GT sub-par for WIN 7 64-bit? I’m looking at GTX485 and Quadros FX3800 right now. What graphics cards are working in WIN 7 64-bit and Vegas 9.0x?

    Thanks,
