    Hey Sean–

Not sure what to tell you about MPEG2, but I submit spots to Comcast as well (I’m in Oregon) and I arranged to send them MOV/H264 files and they have no problem with them (and look better). If you pull too many hairs out, maybe you could do the same (?) If so, and if you’ve got Sorenson Squeeze, I could point you to a downloadable preset that makes nice files that all the local stations here like just fine.

    Thanks very much, John.

So, if I go “Lower field first” on project properties, with “Blend Fields” on de-interlace method, and “Lower field first” on the render setting that should be the ticket?

Sorry John… that’s set to “None”. And, I’m not even sure what De-Interlace does, and why I’d want to de-interlace if I have interlaced footage (?)

Regardless (and I’d love to know about it), what should it be set to, and in what circumstances would I use “blend” or “interpolate” (sorry, I’ve never had that option before)?

    Project settings are:
    NTSC Standard (720×486, 29.970 fps)
    Field order: Lower field first

I rendered as the Vegas “Default Template (uncompressed)”. I do notice now that its settings are defaulted to “Field order: None (progressive scan)”. Should I change either my project settings field order to progressive scan or my render settings to lower field first? Could that be the issue?

Wondering, too, if the pre-built graphics clips are still okay as full-frame renders or if I should re-render them in fields as well, or if that even matters (?)

  • I’m still getting used to “slicing” –> “events” instead of “cutting” –> “clips” myself, but that’s what you do in Vegas…

    Hey John–

Okay, I was in the right spot… just didn’t get the window I was after until actually selecting the Wave Hammer.

Anyway, I just tested my current project with it and it worked like a dream, and was a whole lot easier to get things pretty much situated than what I’m used to.

Thanks again. I see Vegas continuing to be a powerful toolbox with each reduction in my intimidation by it.

    Hey John (Rofrano)–

I feel like an idiot, but where do I go to display the “Master FX” window you showed on your earlier post?? I see something kind of similar at the track level, but nothing for a master output level.

I’m trying to do the step-by-step sequence you advise, but can’t even find how to display that window you show (I’m on Vegas 10).

Can you point me to it?

    THANK YOU,

    –Kelly

    Yo John,

    Wow.

Thank you once again for your help. More than I ever expected, but greatly appreciated.

Now I just gotta find out what “Wave Hammer” means/is.

    Thanks Luke, I’ll try that!
