    Hi Travis,

It is actually good to start with 1080i59.94, as this has a high enough field rate to do a vary high quality deinterlace to 1080p59.94. Then we can add accurate simulated blur to reduce judder for web (30p or 24p) publication.

Sorry, we do not modify color in any way at all. Modifying color is a orthorgonal problem to making video clean and smooth, you may need to find some one else to help with that, but one problem at a time…

    Best,

    Keith

    Hi Travis,

We think we can at least help you to make your final video look at its best (clean and smooth). But first we need to know what is your output format? For example, is it to be converted from (480i) interlaced to 720p60, or 1080p59.94?

isovideo offers media conversion services https://isovideo.com/services.php, based on our IABM/NAB Game-Changer Award-winning Viarte standards conversion/transcoding server. We recently used Viarte for footage conversion (59.94i to 23.98p) for Ron Howard’s “Made in America” documentary, which was world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2013. Please see details from https://isovideo.com/press_915.php (or https://news.creativecow.net/story/872888). Also you may want to see a testimonial from Jerome Raim, who was the lead assistant editor of “MiA” at https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/240/761#765. If you are interested in trying out our service, you could send email to keith@isovideo.com. We could run a quick test and see if it works for you.

    Hi Danil,

It is more efficient if you first make all of your footage conform to a common frame-rate, scan-type and resolution, then edit them together. If you final output is 59.94i for example, we suggest you first convert everything into 59.94p, edit, and export interlaced when done. (interlacing is relatively easy to do.)

isovideo offers a best quality, fast-turn around media conversion service using our award-winning Viarte server. We recently used Viarte for footage conversion (59.94i to 23.98p) for Ron Howard’s “Made in America” documentary, which was world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2013. We could help you with the conversion to smooth and clean 59.94p. If you are interested in trying out our service, you could send email to keith@isovideo.com. We could run a quick test and see if it works for you.

    Hi Alyssa,

If you still have problems converting your clips from 29.97p to 23.98p smoothly, please check out our media conversion services https://isovideo.com/services.php, based on the IABM/NAB Game-Changer Award-winning Viarte standards conversion/transcoding server. Actually, we are not really web-based standards conversion services yet. For any large amount of data transfer, we still need overnight shipping via a USB3 disk drive. For any short clip tests, we could upload from the web.

    Hi David,

It seems like you need to apply 2:3 pulldown in your AE.
If you cannot get your footage to look right, you may want to check out our fast, file based, GPU accelerated standards conversion/transcoding services at https://isovideo.com/services.php, based on our award-winning Viarte server. We have automatic 3:2 pulldown detection in 60i to deal with the exact situation you are facing.
We would provide you with a speedy free test if your are interested. If your footage is not very long, we may do the whole conversion for you without any charge!

    Best regards,
    Keith

    Hi Matt,

Hope this reply is not too late for you.
From what you describe, it would be most efficient to convert all your footage to a common progressive format for editing, before finally adding any interlacing if required by the ABC and SBS specs. For your information, you may want to check out isovideo’s file-based standards conversion/transcoding services at https://www.isovideo.com/services.php. These services use our Viarte server. This product won the prestigious Game-Changer Awards by the IABM and NAB in April 2013. Viarte converts videos between any multi-formats very efficiently, and with superior image quality. We also offer a free trial.

    Hi Robin,

For your information, you may check out isovideo’s demeler deinterlacer.
Demeler is a realtime, full HD, GPU accelerated deinterlacing software running on Linux.
You can see a couple of sample deinterlacing results of Demeler on youtube.

    and

If you are interested, please contact isovideo or send us a short clip, and we will deinterlace it for you for free.

  • Hi Bernhard,

why does it have to be once again a server-solution, for probably at least $ 20.000 I’d guess?

Since all isovideo’s products run only on linux machines, for the Mac and Windows users we provide a mountable, drag-and drop server.

Viarte is a GPU accelerated, highly configurable and flexible file-based standards-conversion/transcoding server with unique adjustable motion blur. It enables one to cost effectively streamline their multi-purpose media standards conversions needs, with video quality that can rival or exceed the best in the class, whether in hardware or software.

To our best knowledge, there is no other drag-and drop standards conversion/transcoding product on the market yet.

To see our Rescape scaler quality, please check out our “rotating-scaled video” on Youtube:

“crowd_run 1080p50 converted to 1080p30 with 180 degree simulated motion blur added”
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XjPa5VUhCg&feature=em-upload_owner

If you can, download the 1080p version from there.

Rescape can be bough separately from Viarte as a Linux tool.

    Best regards,
    Keith

  • Hi Jack,

“but I am wondering if there is a better way to up-convert in FCPX or another software…?”

Are you not quite happy with your results? if so, you may want to try isovideo’s rescape (a fast, highest-quality GPU-based video scaler available, with natural-looking edge enhancement, absolutely no ringing, etc). If you like, you can contact isovideo, with a short clip for free testing. Rescape is part of our Viarte standarcs-conversion/transcoding server to be released soon.
