November 22, 2016 at 8:34 pm in reply to: What’s the best way to approximate an audio mixer in FCP X 10.3?Watched the video above, thanks!
Since I’m a novice in FCP X still, the idea of compound clips, roles and subroles is slightly foggy, and they way you can duplicate a compound clip to create another compound clip to apply effects to a role rather than a subrole is a bit confusing…
Will both compound clips (one for the ‘echo’ subrole, the the other for ‘dialog’ in the Macbreak Studio video) work together in a final output render?
Things like this are a bit foggy to me but I’m sure will be clearer as I get more into FCP X with real world project.

November 21, 2016 at 3:53 am in reply to: What’s the best way to approximate an audio mixer in FCP X 10.3?As long as there is something kind of analogous to the Audio mixer I don’t need real time keyframe recording. I assume as long as some combination of compound clips / roles / audio lanes can globally affect multiple clips that were recorded with the same recorder that’s pretty much what I would need. I’d love to see a video tutorial of something like this in action…

November 20, 2016 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Sony FS5 MXF Files only Channel 1 (out of 4) has anything on it?Thanks Jeremy. It turns out the real problem was in how Premiere Pro exported the references to the MXF files and then SendtoX was just translating that bug to the FCPXML and when FCP X imported it. Based on my conversations with the SendtoX people they changed their interpretation of the Premiere Pro FCP 7 XML so it corrected the Adobe Premiere Pro Bug and now it works. Regards, -Keith

November 16, 2016 at 4:14 am in reply to: Sony FS5 MXF Files only Channel 1 (out of 4) has anything on it?Hi Jeremy
They were already set to 4 mono. On mono track one is the “Left” channel recorded from my Sony FS5, but channel 2, the “Right” input is blank. Playing these on other apps channel 2 is audible, but not in FCPX. Thanks for any advice.

October 1, 2013 at 6:50 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro Crashing with MacVIdCard’s GeForce GTX 780All I can say is that I have MacVidCard’s GTX770 with PPro CC, Mac Pro 5,1, Mac OS 10.8.4 and appropriate CUDA and NVidia drivers from their site. I modified cuda supported text file as you mention and it’s running great with no issues. Do you have plugins that might be affecting operation? Also I do think you might be pushing or overdoing your power draw on your 3,1 Mac Pro, which doesn’t have the most powerful power supply with that card. Did you get advice from MacVidCards? They have done a lot of testing, probably with your configuration, they might also help.

September 17, 2013 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Is the Random Media Encoder CC Mute Problems Fixed? There is one way that I worked around the issue, which is to basically make new audio tracks for all the old audio tracks, copy the old audio into the new tracks and delete the old audio tracks. After doing this I never experienced the problem. I did this on about 20 videos that were very problematic so I think this workaround works. Search in the Adobe Premiere Pro forum for my posts in more detail about the workaround if you are not clear. However – very bad on Adobe for this bug. It has wasted a lot of my time and I’m sure others, like you.

August 16, 2013 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Is the Random Media Encoder CC Mute Problems Fixed?I’m on the Mac version and see it all the time but it is maybe 1 out of 4 encodes where it does this. For a export with just 1 or 2 audio tracks that run throughout it’s not too bad but what if it mutes a track with just a short bit of audio on it — that’s bad. Check the links in the Adobe forum above to see the extent of the problem. It is real and acknowledged by Adobe.

Hi Jonathan
It’s good to know that the wrapped MOVs are not giving you trouble in CC. It seems CC fixed a lot of slowdowns on the Mac, something I’ve noticed in the short time I’ve been using it, which is heartening.
Depending on what preferences you ‘clipwrapped’ them, the MOVs could just be the H.264 video stream (which is AVCHD video) with Quicktime wrappers so the Mac Quicktime will play them. However if you choose to in Clipwrap you can actually do a transcode to Prores as well or just keep the MTS video and convert the AVCHD audio to LPCM, which at the time I needed to do to get pluraleyes to be able to properly read the audio.
Other than the H.264 MTS video stream, I’m not sure if there is any relevant metadata in the files. The people at Clipwrap are really good at supporting their products if you have more specific info.
I believe with Prelude or Premiere Pro you can add metadata to video files, to be either stored in the files or in ‘side carrier xml files, if that will help you. I have done a little bit of that in hopes of storing logging info, I know it holds transcription /script data because I have done that. I also believe there are good utilities to add metadata to video files, such as Philip Hodgetts Intelligent Assistance software.
By the way, I have a Podcast about Cinema stuff and Mac Tech, called TechMove (techmovepodcast.com), you can look it up on iTunes, where we talk about this kind of tech and all kinds of stuff. Check it out if you have a moment.
