Audio Playing One Whole Tone Too Low in Premiere Pro CC
This is a weird one, folks.
Never happened before.
I import an .aif file in Premiere Pro CC. When I put it in a sequence, it plays one whole step in pitch below the correct pitch. The same happens with mp3s files.
If I create a sequence from the .aif file (by dragging it from the project window onto the “new” icon at the bottom of the window), it plays fine in the sequence that has been derived from it.
But, however, if I make a video sequence and afterwards import an .aif file into the project, place it on its audio track, it plays one whole step to low.
I’ve experimented with various .aif and .mp3s files with the same weird result.
Any ideas?

Check your audio sample rates. Your audio clips may be 44.1Khz in a 48kHz timelime.

I’ve been doing some more investigating and here’s the one thread I could find:

Apparently if you create a track in Garageband— or in my case, Logic Pro X—and have PP open, somehow the clock speed of PP is affected. The lowering of tone problem occurred in PP independent of the 44.1 or 48 kHz setting in sequences. It happened in newly created sequences both in PP CC and PP CS6.
One workaround (I’m still experimenting) was to create an audio track in Logic Pro X, then shut down BOTH Logic Pro X and PP, then only relaunch PP and insert the audio file. This is clearly a pain in the ass, especially if you want to go back and forth between audio and picture revisions.
Would like to know if there’s a way to change the clock speed (I’m on a Mac), without having to close and relaunch the apps, or reboot the computer altogether.

Think I may have solved it.
When to Audio Midi SetUp in Mac.
Made sure the clock rate of Premiere Pro 7 was consistent at 44.1 khz with the default clock rate.
So far, so good.

Thanks David, this problem has been plaguing me when using Premiere Pro and Garageband or Apple Logic Pro, using the AudioMidi App and setting to 44K did the trick. Thanks again!
