yes, that’s what i thought about vegas
the version of vegas that i have is pro 8.0c build 260
i will try to convert my videos with the xilisoft ultimate v.6 video converter to a format that vegas can recognize
i assume that i have to keep the same video and audio bit rate as my original videos
thanks again

December 10, 2013 at 6:35 pm in reply to: what version of sony vegas for edit video from black magic compact cinema cameradear Dave i thank you very much for your kind answer
i still use the vegas 8 for a couple of years now and i am still happy
please, let me explain that the main reason i want to buy the blackmagic pocket cinema camera is for the exchangeable lenses it offer
my grand father have an extensive range of pentax k-mount and compatible pentax k mount lenses (prime, zoom, telefoto) and it is a good idea to use any of those lenses with the blackmagic camera
also, i am not interested at all in any hd video and i still use my little minidv sony dcr-hc62 with really good results
so, if i be able still use my vegas 8 with the footage from blackmagic pocket camera would be really nice
no, my pc is not so power, it is just a little celeron g530 with 4 gb ddr3 ram and a 250 hd wd hd
it’s performance is quite good on sd video renderings
thanks again

November 18, 2013 at 7:56 pm in reply to: what sound level and loudness for videodear Phil Seymour i really thank you very much for your kind reply contest of which i have carefully noted
although, please let me explain that it is almost impossible to hire a true pro sound engineer since this video project is for a local charity club and no one of us who will participate in this project we get paid
i know that it is absolutely different to edit/master for video than with music cd
during the weekend i have talked with a friend who is freelance videographer and a member at the greek Independent cinematographer club and gave me some informations regarding sound level for video/film
yes, there are international standards for sound for film and video in both pal/ntsc analog/digital
from his experience nearly nobody follow those standards and everyone is free to record at whatever sound level likes but within the follow limits :
analog recording for video/film – max -5 db’s at vu meter (i assume that he refers to ppm meter)
digital recording max sound level -15 to -8db’s (dbfs) max
maximizer plugin can be used to give a louder loudness within -15 to -8 db’s as output ceiling
if i stay within the above limits then the pressing plant that will made the final dvd mass production will arrange for any inconvinieces if any
please, you can check my soundtrack

to listen for what kind of music i am talking
please, if the forum rules does not allowed live links please delete the above url
thanks again
best regards

November 17, 2013 at 3:28 pm in reply to: what sound level and loudness for videodear Colin Morris, good afternoon and i really thank you ery much for your kind reply contest of which i have carefully noted
please, i wish to explain that it is almost impossible to hire a pro sound engineer to take care about my music for film since the production is for a local charity club and i will not get any money from those people, further more the final dvd(blank media, art work and mass production) will be carried out by someone else without any paying
i really don’t know if i can post live link to my music and please if this is not allowed by the forum rules please delete the link
https://soundcloud.com/someone-cy/forever-young
please, if you listen to the music you will have a better idea of what i am trying to do
the complete soundtrack is not yet finished but i have uploaded a demo just an hour ago
many thanks again for your advice

November 15, 2013 at 4:46 pm in reply to: what sound level and loudness for videodear Phil Seymouri thank you for your kind reply
thanks for your advice for the vasst plugin but i have all ready
finalis (elemental audio) for sound maximizer and the ultra maximizer + from waves (old version 2008)
i will try to record my sound for videos at -7 to -3 db’s (dbfs) to see what will be happened and we will talk again
i have noticed that commercial dvd’s have a maximum sound level of -17 to -12 db’s which i quite low i think
thanks
