    From reading your description, your approach should work just fine, as long as you’re doing this one shape per layer. Are you sure there are no additional keyframes after the area you want to loop? And the layers extends all the way through the comp?

    From earlier in this thread:

    I think you just need to change this line:

    t = 0;

    to this:

    t = inPoint;

  • There’s likely a reason they are in separate text boxes, but it would be much easier to do if they were all in one text box, you could just change the line spacing and you’d be done.
    After Effects multiple layer alignment and distribution is described here: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/using/selecting-arranging-layers.html (scroll down to “Align or distribute layers in 2D space”). That may also resolve the issue.

  • Here’s a link to a fairly convoluted solution for a similar situation, will need some adjustment for your needs. Haven’t tested in recent versions, don’t know it if works in CC2019.

  • You can scale the extruded shape along the z axis in Element to create that effect. Or push it in z space through a “wall” object set to matte shadow. Also, rather than using a separate text layer and aligning it with the Element layer, I would use two bevel copies in Element to create the front face and the extrusion colors.

  • As far as I know, CC Particle World only uses a floor for bounce. I guess you could make a comp where the floor is turned (well, really the entire comp is turned) to some other angle than level to get one bounce from a flat surface. Maybe combined with a gravity that is at an angle it could work.

    Particular (commercial plugin) has it slightly better: It has a floor and a wall surface you can bounce off of. Plus you can freely position those layers at any position and angle and the particles will also fall once they go outside the layer area. So that’s a bit better. I’ve used that to a convincing effect in a number of cases even when the bounce surfaces are not actually flat. You can fool the eye to a degree. And you have the option of using a motion path to fake the bounce as well.

    For a physics bounce of any complexity from within After Effects, (commercial) Superluminal Stardust seems to be pretty much the only option currently. Even C4D Lite excludes physics.

    Outside of AE, there’s always Blender.

  • This scenario has been covered many a time in this forum. The keyword is sourceRectAtTime(), which returns the dimensions of the text box that you can then use to offset the second text layer.

  • It would be a Math.round() expression on the time remapping, if you want to emulate posterize time.

    Math.round(time) would give you a change once per second
    Math.round(time*5)/5would give you a change 5 times per second
    etc.

    Or a similar expression on the offset, using time, but making the output 2-dimensional, for example

    my_offset = 5*Math.round(time*5);
    [my_offset, my_offset]

    That would move 5 pixels over and down 5 times a second.

    Adjust values to taste.

  • Haven’t used Photoshop 3D much, generally do such things in dedicated 3D programs, but this video seems in the right direction:

    They’re a bit low resolution to tell the exact technique.

    What I can tell is that in the first image the smear tool has been used to create the … well… smeary look.

    The second almost looks like it has been drawn with a pencil, but that can be a drawing tablet with a thin brush as well.

    The watercolor splashes look like they are actual scanned watercolor splashes composited on top of the image.
