Yes, you can use the C4D z-depth pass to occlude particles in 3D in Particular. More manageable if you pre-render the C4D beuaty and z-depth passes and composite as footage in AE.

Would be very easy with xParticles, there’s even a modifier for this specific thing, particles infecting other particles.

They have a three-month free trial for non-commercial work.

Does look like a bug, then.

You could try enabling or disabling the GPU acceleration: click the rocket icon in the menu bar and turn GPU on or off. That’ll tell you whether it is GPU-related.

If that does nothing, I would suggest installing an earlier version of Illustrator.

Looks like they’re just minimized. Double-clicking on the tab should open them, or clicking on the double-arrow (up&down) will circle through the display modes if there are several (closed/simple/advanced).

This will be easier if you make a comp for the swimming pool footage which just fits the pool in it. That way you will keep the corners at a manageable distance.

If I have to deal with mp4 footage, what I do to minimize some of the issues is use ReVision DeFlicker, set to “deflicker highspeed, noise reduction method 1”. It often helps in smoothing out those oversharpened edges and compression artifacts. Then add a bit of grain. Light bleed is not that much of a problem IMO, it just makes the fire look hot.
Sometimes extracting the green channel and overlaying it in luminance transfer mode helps as well. It does change the look of the footage somewhat. I doubt it does much in this case.

Not sure what you’re seeing. Screenshot would help. Did you click on the “black box”?

You’ll have to draw the lines in one corner manually. Then you can copy-flip horizontally and vertically to fill in the rest.
