Just need to offset the Phase by about -35 degrees, no expression needed. Then link the amplitude to your wave height with pick whip.

Basically, if your horizontal position is something else than the center, you need an offset value for the Phase.

My approach was simplified in that the Wave Warp Phase was at 0 and the circle was in the horizontal center of the comp. If either one of those settings is changed, it no longer aligns. Do you have the circle moving around horizontally?

It doesn’t look like it unwraps fully, so perhaps the texture size (or UV coordinates) are being shrunk while the globe radius is being enlarged?

The frequency is in relation to Wave Speed. For one full cycle (1.0 Wave Speed) it is 2*Math.PI. So for your 0.5 setting it is Math.PI.

(2*Math.PI is one rotation around a circle in radians.)

Without test footage I wouldn’t know if it the solution works.

Maybe it is too complicated a solution for the problem. If the slowing down is relatively steady, it should be pretty easy to time remap the end of the footage to look about the same speed as the rest. I’d give that a try first.

  • I just realized how you could do this easier:

Use several copies of the Audio Spectrum + Ball Actions with the audio Spectrum height set to different values, higher for smaller dots and lower for larger dots. 5 copies might be enough.

Adobe InCopy would allow you to do that.

    Hi,

Yes, add a point control to your solid and the expression to the solid’s position. Precomp the solid moving all attributes and set it to 5fps. If your main comp is 25 fps this won’t have any other effect except that it’ll be easier to move the solid in 5-frame steps, as you can step forward as many frames as you want to move the solid. For instance, step 5 frames forward and add 5 to the x value of the point control for the new keyframe.

Keeping the main comp 25 fps, you can use Posterize Time Effect set to 5 fps for the precomped solid.

This is all assuming you want to manually control the animation of your solid.

November 16, 2015 at 9:22 am in reply to: Camera Projection with white edge?

I would do this as three images on three planes: Straighten the two walls and the floor into rectangular images in Photoshop, bring them into AE and turn the layers into 3D, align walls to floor.

Or is there a reason to do this as camera projection?

    —

In terms of your original white edges problem, you could expand the matte edges. Or draw masks instead of using a key.
