Well, that certainly clarifies the problem.

CC sphere takes a equirectangular image map and turns it into a sphere. Your image is already circular and covers only a small part of the rectangular area of the image.

You need an image like this:

    moon texture map

    (Google for “moon texture map”).

Since it is a slideshow with 8 images, let’s make sure we’re talking about the same things:

The background I am referring to is the backdrop for the image, marked in green here. There is a four-color gradient in that background. It is four-color as two-color wouldn’t blend that way.

The radial gradient is inside the phone, the background for the app itself. Marked in red here, with (location of the) two colors used marked with red dots. You can tell it is radial as it goes darker in every direction around that lighter point next to the info “circled-i”. (Although, looking at the other slides again, the second color is probably that dark blue violet way at the top of the app, rather than the marked spot at the top left of this image.)

The transparent parts are the gray rectangles that have been overlaid on this background, marked with blue here.

By itself it should work just fine. What other layers do you have in the comp? Are some of them precomped?

I only see a radial gradient between two colors there. (Effect>Generate>Gradient Ramp).

The background is a 4-color gradient (Effect>Generate>4-Color Gradient).

You can bring in the reference image and pick the colors from it.

Just to derail the conversation, in my view this approach looks more glassy than a plain colored gradient:

    iPhone illustration

That would be a semitransparent layer with a masked white-to-transparent gradient overlaid in screen mode.

I agree. I didn’t notice any tracking problems. The air would have to be extremely still for the flame to be that undisturbed, but even that fits the mood of the shot fine in my opinion.

Just one circular mask, duplicated in Plexus with the Replication option under Path Object. Duplicates rotated on all axis somewhere around 360 degrees total rotation. Offset (might have been some other term, don’t have the program open) set to 0 so they rotate around the same center point.

  • The person has been shot on green screen background, probably laying on a chair. The background is a separate piece of video footage. A number of things make this more realistic than your average attempt at it:

    1) Quality of footage. To get a clean green screen, the better the camera and the more even the lighting on the screen the easier it is to get a good key. Plus the footage itself looks better and can be color adjusted without breaking apart.

    2) Lighting and camera angle matched from background to subject.

    3) Color (and focus) matched between background and subject.

    4) Slow-motion for that floating feeling. Here the background footage has also been reversed to make the leaves float upward.

    5) Overall cinematic color grade.

  • No need to use a samples amount that is higher than your frame rate times timeframe. So if your frame rate is 25 and time frame 1, the highest you need to go is 25 for the samples. Should look exactly the same, but render faster.

    Happy New Year!

Another solid atop the footage with a gradient from deep blue to orange/brown, blend in Screen mode, lower opacity to 25-50%. That is, if you are not planning on 3D animating the glass.
