Ok started my little project over.

Set up the Comp
1000×500 Square Pixels.

Original .png image….pulled into photo shop and extracted from background
Saved as .png.

After reading your response took the image into Illustrator set up project as pixels….

Took the AI file imported to AE……….Same results…..
Your thoughts.?

My guess is that you are seeing the seam of the two edges of your image wrapped around the sphere.

It is more of a large gap rather than seam.

Sounds like you have extra (transparent) pixels in the layer beyond the visible image area. If so, trim the extra transparency in Photoshop before importing to AE. Or, if you have precomped the layer in AE, make sure the image fills the precomp with no extra empty space at the edges.

Thanks for the response.

Took the original image into photo shop.
Duplicated image….Rasterized it.

Pulled image out of the pic….placed on a transparent background.
Import to AE……not good.

Watched a Andrew Kramer Tutorial….
He had an earth map……flat layer..
His was jpeg…

I took my image and tried to convert to jpeg….
Also took my image into photoshop and stretch it like Kramers earth image….

Still no luck…

Can you upload three screen shots of the problem comp: One that shows the image before cc sphere applied, one that shows it after adding cc sphere effect and third rotated to where the problem shows up? Effect settings visible.

Well, that certainly clarifies the problem.

CC sphere takes a equirectangular image map and turns it into a sphere. Your image is already circular and covers only a small part of the rectangular area of the image.

You need an image like this:

moon texture map

(Google for “moon texture map”).

In another forum some one mentioned equirectangular image.
Quite frankly had never heard the term.

Was able to find one image will work on my comp tomorrow.
