I am having the exact same problem. I know the video is in DivX codec, but not sure about the audio codec. I assume it is mp3 also.
How did you convert the file?

yea. Effect was the key word, when I had originally searched for timecode (before I posted) it came up with WAY too much stuff. thanks for the point in the right direction anyway.
