Thanks. I was hoping you weren’t going to say that but I’ll work on it.

O.K. I did this and it did not render. It looked like it was for a while but then it gave me the general error message again.

I’m not sure where you want me to remove the filters. Is it in the system settings or preferences or in one of the timeline drop down menus?

    Thanks.

  • I removed the last clip I added and it rendered again. The file must have been corrupted.
    Thanks.

Thanks for the information. HDCAM is the cheapest. Can you give me an idea how much is costs (ballpark — I know it varies by where you go) — for a 90 minute film? I’m afraid that having to convert it will be cost prohibitive and my film won’t be able to screen.

    Thanks again.

  • I think I figured out the problem. It might be a corrupted file. I deleted the last clip I imported and tried to render and it worked.

    Thanks for all your help.

  • Actually, I found the user manual and successfully trashed all preferences. I put in the new preferences but Final Cut Pro still won’t let me render my project.

I’m rendering in the timeline for playback.

Any ideas what this general error message could be since trashing the preferences didn’t fix the problem?

    Thanks.

  • I’ve never used it before so I’m trying to figure out how to use it. Also, wondering if it will help with the render problem I’m having.

Up until now, when I got the general error message when I tried to render I trashed the preferences and it worked. That method is not working anymore to get it to render.

    Thanks.

    Hi again.
I downloaded the preference manager. Is there a manual or something so I can figure out how to use it?

I tried trashing the preferences several times and I even reinstalled my Final Cut Pro but when I try to render it looks like it’s going to do it and then within a second it gives me a general error message.

    Thanks for the help.
