  • Agreed. Don’t give up on the Tracker just yet; try increasing contrast in a Pre Comp as described above, and copy position/anchor key frames onto original footage. Read AFX’s Tracker section in Help; it briefly describes all options and demands from the User. You must interact and correct the Tracker as it analyzes, slowly, and backtracking when necessary. Attempt to track Rotation as well, as it will assist greatly in which way to point the fire’s tail. Next time wear a ring or something with more natural contrast.

If it’s the light that wish to have better control over, try this. If it’s multiple lights that that you feel are absolutely necessary, I can’t tell you but this may bring you closer.

access dropdown: SHATTER>LIGHTING>Light Type -change to FIRST COMP LIGHT. Make a Spot Light (LAYER>NEW>LIGHT. Light Type>SPOT). Select and adjust Position X,Y,Z values of “Light 1” in Comp Window to -800,700,100. Adjust light’s cone angle really wide >180. Vhwalla, pretty/obscure low angle side/frontal light.

  • This probably isn’t of much help but I have a similar problem from Firework’s .png files into Photoshop. I work with 190-190-0 yellow letters (subtitles) that have an alpha channel later used to overlay on video. When I need to make fixes in Photoshop I can never get an exact 190-190-0 EYEDROP sample from existing letters. Changing to different color profiles in PREFS seems to have an effect on EYEDROP results, and that’s what I plan on looking into myself.
