The issues we are having is that not all of the editors can handle HD right now so I end up down converting, then exporting the project to a DV tape (via composite cable) then it is ingested to an on air system through a composite cable as well.

  • This footage really isn’t for archive. So is there any quality difference if the final result ends up being SD?

Yea I got an adapter from B&H. Is there a diagram on how to build my own? I would like to make a few of these.

But wouldn’t that be double the work? My other problem is that there are multiple cuts that I am making in this video so that brings a whole other world of problems with audio sync and so forth.

Its all coming together nicely, but if I choke the comp too much I start losing more good stuff so I guess I will need to find a happy medium between “waves” and surface area. I still have some blue spill that I can’t remove though 🙁

Should the footage be deinterlaced using this tutorial? https://www.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/deinterlace/deinterlace.html

BTW Thanks SOOOOO much for the keylight suggestion, made a ton of difference. I still see some waves but im going to work more on fixing that.

What I was told is that I should apply color effects to make the keyed footage more keyable and use:

“Alpha Add mode mostly to get linear transparency behavior”

    It was then suggested to:

“use the sub-comp as a matte on the other clip”

So I was just doing what folks have suggested.

Do you think this will remove the wavyness on the edges?

Like I said, it was lit poorly which I had absolutely no control over. I will try your keylight and see what I can come up with. I have absolutely no experience in using that so hopefully I can get something.

    Thanks…

I have a new question. How in the world do I make one of these use an alpha channel so I can import into another program? Seems every time I export I either get black boxes around the particle, or nothing at all in the output.
