June 7, 2015 at 3:18 pm in reply to: Looking at the Dell Inspiron I7548-7858SLV 4K laptop. Any thoughts? Thanks for your input, Steve. This actually has 2x USB 3.0 ports, and 1x USB 2.0 ports. I confirmed that in person at Best Buy yesterday.
Currently my laptop is 8 years old, a Sony VGN-FW235J, so while I can understand that the GPU and 16GB RAM may not be up to your standards, they are lightyears above what I’ve been editing HD on for nearly a decade. I should clarify that I don’t anticipate editing much 4K for clients, HD only.
Knowing that, what are your thoughts? I do understand the 5400 drive speed being a problem, but am I correct in saying that if I have my media on external 3.0 drives it should be acceptable?
I absolutely love the idea of a 4K screen. My eyesight is excellent, and I would rather have a higher resolution, smaller screen than a larger one. Just further info.
Also, any other laptops out there in the $1K – $1.3K mark that you would recommend over this?
Thanks for your input,
Justin. -

May 14, 2014 at 2:17 pm in reply to: Thinking of upgrading from HVX200 – any suggestions?I have been researching the px270 thoroughly since you posted this. It seems, without a doubt, to be the front-runner for me right now. Thanks for that. I was literally built to be extremely flexible for one-man operations like mine.
Am I correct in saying that this camera can only overcrank in 720p, not 1080? Any other downsides anyone can see?
Steve, do you have any hands on experience with the hvx200? How does this camera compare?
Justin.

It depends the size you are trying to send. Are you talking a 30 second commercial? Or an entire full-length feature? I know you can send files online up to 4GB with Getalink. I’ve never used whalemail but I use Getalink frequently and I can vouch for the fact that it works. The address is https://www.getalink.com

I’m assuming it will work to put the file in my ScriptUI Panels folder in my Scripts folder at location C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels
