  • How do I arrange layers according to their in point if they are not named sequentially?

Posted by Justin Hawley on April 2, 2014 at 7:43 pm

    Ok, trying this again.

So I imported a PPro project into AE and have a nice composition with a ton of layers in it. However, they are not in order. So my first clip may be on the top, and second clip is 3/4 down, etc.

How can I quickly arrange all of these layers based on their in point, so I don’t have to scroll as much?

Thank you! Sorry to any of you who may have seen my previous post. I copied and pasted something from somewhere else when I had trouble posting here due to my internet connection. I’m sure it looked like spam! 🙂

Ok great. Looks promising. I’m new to using .jsx files. Could you le me know how to implement this solution?

    Thank you!
    Justin.

Ok, I found this page. I’m assuming it will work to put the file in my ScriptUI Panels folder in my Scripts folder at location C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels

    Scripts automate application procedures.

You can find an overview of script installation and use here:

    https://aescripts.com/knowledgebase/index/view/faq/how-to-install-and-run-scripts/

If a script is installed in the Scripts folder it is accessed from the menu File > Scripts.

Scripts installed in the ScriptUI Panel folder are accessed from the Window menu.

Jeff Almasol’s site is back up, and he’s making his scripts available again:

Sure, you can find Jeff’s scripts here:
    http://www.redefinery.com/ae/rd_scripts/

And Kinda Sorta is also available here:
    https://aescripts.com/rd-kinda-sorta/

And I love that Jeff does this: he doesn’t charge for his scripts, but he’s doing #devforacause. From his site:

In lieu of thanks, consider donating to a charity important to you. If my scripts save you time, maybe pass the savings onto organizations doing good work. I’d love to hear how you’re paying it forward. #devforacause
