November 5, 2011 at 12:39 am in reply to: MC6 new features… favorites? disappointments? predictions?Dustin,
Watching Avid trying to sell tabbed bins and 3rd party hardware support as new in 2011 is definitely awkward at best. And one can’t help but read fear into what is likely the most timid UI upgrade in the history of software design. No I don’t want FCP X, but I’m not aiming to cut episodes of Seinfeld either. 🙂
However, having switched from FCP myself, I can say Avid was clearly the right choice for me. Unfortunately for them, the features that make it so much better to use are really hard to sell. Little things like stability with long sequences and big projects, rock solid multicam and media management, fluid trimming, etc.
Ultimately, choosing between Avid and Premiere comes down to where you want to work in the future. Bite the bullet and learn whatever it is that they use. I know it’s a cliché, but it’s just a tool.

Kona 8.0 software out now: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/98/876965
“- Added 2K x 1080 support for KONA LHi
– Added 2K x 1080p25 and 2K x 1080PsF25 support for KONA 3 and LHi”– Justin Barham –

Thanks for the conformation Shane.
It’s a shame though, as the MXO2 LE would otherwise be a lot better choice for me. So now I’ll just grab a Mini and see how things turn out in a few months.

Why would Blackmagic have to be developing specifically for Pystar?

September 11, 2009 at 2:51 am in reply to: Multibridge Pro 2 Fan never stops – normal?Seriously? The Multibridge is loud? If that’s true I’m crossing it off my list. I mean I understand that they want to keep it safely cool, but it’s not a server or something.

September 7, 2009 at 1:41 am in reply to: How does the BMD Decklink Extreme allow for 2k viewing? Thanks for the info Kristian. A couple of questions:
1) Does the Decklink or Multibridge scale the to 2K to 1080, as opposed to croppping?
2) Any thoughts about supporting “RED friendly” resolutions like 2048×1024? I think a lot of people want to view 2k at 2:1, and have little need for the full aspect of 2048×1556? I believe there are quite a few 2048×1152 monitors out there that would work nicely. Maybe that’s more of an HDLink question.
Thanks!

Great card. I use it regularly on jobs. But no HDMI or 3G SDI at that price makes it a sketchy option for mi casa.
Id be very curious as to what AJA has in the oven right now.

Thanks for the heads up. The LHi is a perfect card otherwise, and AJA’s great support rep is well earned. But if I can’t monitor Red R3Ds in Color, I’ll have to settle for another brand.
