I know this post is kinda old, but I’ve been getting this “-C” file too, and I keep deleting it, but with me it keeps coming back, like herpes.
I noticed that it’s Color that’s generating it, and that it does so whenever I press “Save”. Auto-Save works fine, but I haven’t found where Color keeps the Auto-Save files, or is it simply the project file itself that it saves? If so, I guess a workaround would be to just never, ever save…
But anyway, the bigger the project I’m trying to save, the bigger -C gets, and it’s basically the size of the whole timeline, rendered out! So maybe there is a setting in Color that is doing this? Does anyone else have this problem? I like saving…

I’ve had the same problem very often and what I started doing is capturing HDV directly to ProRes. The files are a lot bigger, but FCP doesn’t bite off chunks of your media. Just change your setup to HDV-Apple Prores, and capturing will be fine. See https://library.creativecow.net/articles/poisson_chris/hdv-prores.php
