So, are you suggesting that by having FC10 as your soul editing expertise you are in a better position than if CS6 was?

“But at some point, all of us have had to say, “Ok, I can’t keep working on EOL stuff forever, Avid is basically the same so I’m good there, Premier is never gonna happen, so I might as well start tinkering with this thing…”

    Premier is never gonna happen?

I really must get one of these iCrystalBalls that are going round.

And yet again with the ‘gotta use FC10 or I’m a dinosaur nonsense’. I truly doubt I’m ever going to use FC10, just can’t see it as to me it seems change for changes sake in more ways than the good parts of it offer something of value to me. There is nothing in it that makes me think ‘damn, i wish 7 or CS6 had that, and Plenty that makes me snigger at the thought ofnusing it. Doesn’t make me a dinosaur. Never will. Won’t hinder my career. Never will. Makes me have a different opinion from you and yours, but maybe that is the problem. Unless everyone agrees that FC10 IS the future, is it?

Well, no. It is part of the present. It will remain so until Apple can it and everything goes tablet. But it isn’t the future in that sense of ‘oooh, jhc, that is the future.’

It’s different. But then again, so was new coke. And bet you some people swore it was far superior to old coke. Probably still do. Doesn’t necessarily make it so though, does it.

Yes. Though also a serious dig at Apple’s philosophy in my own way. It is also a general fatigue at some of the evangelising that goes on about FC10 which tends to be rather, um, selective in its assessment of FC10 and the general associated ‘evolve dinosaurs you are wrong’ commentary that comes with it.

FC10 is new and shiny, sure, but it is also incredibly flawed, buggy, and in my opinion, which is the only one that truly matters to me, is like trying to play/sing a song with two guitar strings and a gob stopper in your mouth… though you do get to perform it standing on your head, so yay, evolution rocks!!!

And no, sorry, I won’t note it, I don’t really watch much TV anymore and when I do it is on the iPlayer so no adverts, thank god.

My iPad is a great way to browse the web in bed though. Love tech gadgets. Frivolous fun. So yay, apple rocks too!!!

    Lynette,

In case you do trawl through Bill’s evangelical post which from the little I read seemed to ignore your current set up in terms of formats you use and the fact the zoo probably doesn’t have the budget for wholesale changes despite, apparently, the past being eradicated last June, do take into account he is like the Jehovah’s Witnesses who knock on your door trying to sell you Jesus, though unfortunately there is no way or saying ‘sorry, fundamentalism isn’t for me and I believe in Darwin’ then shutting the door on the forum.

Stick with FCP7 for now. Demo PP6. The future is changing for some but to be honest X isn’t the editing messiah, it is just a very naughty boy.

    Are apple still supporting FC10?

    Wow.

“Tho I’ll note that at the top of the class, the expert Marlin fisherman are all well and good, but they aren’t the ones putting the food on the worlds tables. That’s left to those who spread the wide nets, not the targeted fishing lines.”

Yes, and I believe those wide net casters are also depleting the global fish reserves in pursuit of ever increasing profits.

    Onward Christian soldiers.

In defence of Steve, though i am sure he doesn’t need defending, banter is par for the course in the uk and he was bantering. and if he is wrong I’ve no doubt he will take the return banter quite admirably. It is just wit. It works very well. And it is funny and generally comes with an underlying respect and affection. People should try it sometime. Though it may take 6 to 9 months of really getting to grips with the nuts and bolts of it, especially if it is a new paradigm for you and different to your usual modus operandi. And if after all that you still don’t get it, try holding it differently.

I hope so, it was more friendly banter than anything else. But we shall see 🙂
