Go by the config guide, blah, blah, all that jazz. From the specs sounds ok. For whatever that’s worth. Nothing about the config sounds off. Keep in mind it won’t be the fastest system on earth, but would certainly be capable for HD/2kish type stuff.

I don’t trim the r3d.
And rarely go to a 4K intermediate, unless I’m delivering 4K.
No proxys.
Only for wholly red projects, if it’s 1 or 2 red shots, I’ll live with r3d.

You most certainly can’t expect anything close to 4K 50fps from any hardware in r3d, unless you’ve got like four red rocket cards to do debayering.

You think only in terms of Mac though. linux and windows boxes both can use multiple gpus, and can have significantly faster processors and busses. The Macs are just really freaking old. 🙁

I think it’s a bit up to taste. I use memories as a working space to pull grades from. And stills as a way to grab reference images and also for less important grades, or grades that I might want to pull a node from, but not the whole grade.

I use powergrades to store my “looks”.
