So based on comments from Anish and Rohit, I tried two 690s (4 processing GPUs) in a Cubix in 2010 MacPro again, this time doing an SMC reset, and jackpot! It seems to be working fine. All the cards show up and I’m getting playback, OS seems solid. This is pretty huge.

Then you’re not going to be happy with what resolve does. Why ask a question on here and then just ignore the answer? You want a fix to your problem, that’s it. Don’t connect a monitor to the card you want to process with. Read the Resolve config guide for more information.

There is a new form of paid support/ support contract available. And that is a VAR. A Value Added Reseller. Someone who design, puts together, delivers and then subsequently supports a system for you. You pay a little bit more, but you get a box designed to work, and you get a number you can call when it doesn’t.

Ahhhh, sorry. You didn’t mention you were working in ACES. I’d strongly recommend not doing that, particularly if you’re not using a supported IDT.
Those LUTs will work perfectly in YRGB color science.

Fascinating. So unlike prior version of Mac OS X, 10.8.3 OS is supporting more than 4 video cards. I’ve booted(with giant caveat) with 5, but 6 cause my system to kernel panic on boot.
Prior version had a software limitation which only allowed the OS to address 4 cards. It was once suggested to me that this was related to a hardware restriction, that efi boot only had enough memory to address 4 cards. It seems that software limitation has been lifted. However the hardware limit still seems to exists. At least it does in my 2010 MacPro.
So I’m able to boot with 5 cards, but the system is basically unusable this way, it works in fits and starts. Seems to be choking on everything I do. I’ll have to see if the 2012 version has addressed this in some way. Though regardless of whether it has or not this is good news for those using hackintosh, as they’ve never had the hardware restriction only an OS one.
John, are you actually using your box day-to-day with 4 cards? Do you find it stable? Seeing any crashes, kernel panics, freezes?

Mac OS X does already support 4 GPUS. But not 5. At least that’s how it used to be. Still looking into it.
