Probably better for your purposes to render to a new directory and then reconnect to the new file in fcp.
I always use the filename from source convention. But i don’t know how you set your original renders, so it’s all dependent on that.

How do you mean compressed the media to qt files?

You need to set your render destination to the same location as your previous renders. and make sure the naming convention is the same, so that the new render will rewrite the old file.

You assume that Resolve is using QT APIs to decompress media.

3 hours of ProRes HQ @ 1080/23.98 should be about 250GB so maybe you have your media doubled up? If you’d set your conversion to prores 4444 it would be able 360GB plus the original files i’m guessing around 120gb… would add up to half a terabyte? In anycase 500GB for a 3hour project is within the realm of reason.
In terms of long term storage. Hard drive space is cheap, time is valuable. Buy an external hard drive and backup the whole thing.

How much footage do you have… in time. Hard to say if you did something wrong if we don’t know how many hour? minutes? days? of footage you have.

Just use XML out of FCP. Resolve supports these.

P2 files… aren’t files but databases in a file folder structure. And they aren’t actually supported in Resolve. Resolve supports a specific list of media formats and containers.

The BlackMagic hdv easy setup is for transfer mpeg2 stream view FireWire. You probably mean to capture via a video signal I.e. hdmi. You need to use an prores easy setup which matches the video format of your tape.
