I pretty much gave up on that card. Returned one as my system just “lost” it. Ran a check with a utility they sent me and they said it was pooched. Replaced it and they later said there was nothing wrong with it. ???
The new card was detected correctly but the firewire doesn’t work correctly. 6 pin is useless, only the 4 pin works. That was the only firewire I had, so I couldn’t use a camera and firewire hard drive at the same time.
I won’t be going with an internal solution again. Now I just use a camera as a transcoder etc. and am much happier.

For SD work, could I get away with an Asus P5GD2 Premium?

Haven’t bought Decklink (or vegas 6.0) yet as I’d like the kinks worked out first. I’ll chime in on what my workflow *would* be though:
What Decklink card are you are using?
Decklink Pro or Multibridge PCI ExpressWhat deck(s) are you using?
Sony J3 or DNW-75How are you monitoring (component/SDI/other)?
ComponentWhat mastering formats are you delivering?
BetaSX DigiBeta DVCAMWhat sound card and driver model are you using?
Onboard C-Media CMI9880How many audio channels is your typical master?

“I am use to going firewire to my camera then rca to tv. I really dont want to continue doing this method for the broadcast monitor.”
No, that’s exactly what you should be doing if you want accurate CC. Don’t use your video card’s S-video out.

Are you aware that digitizing is not yet 100% frame accurate?

April 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm in reply to: posts are discouraging – upgrade from V4 to V5 or V4 to V6?As one of the people who is experiencing no end of problems with v6.0a build 99 (the latest) I can only say *stay the hell away* (at least for now).
How much is $50 to you? That’s all you’ll save by buying now and holding on to it until it becomes stable (if).
I was shocked that the upgrade price from v4 to v6+dvda3 was only $50 higher than from v5+dvda2. I upgraded to v5 right off the bat to get the dicounted price. I was hoping to hold on to it until they released the decklink drivers. Low and behold, we didn’t see those until a whole new revision and more $$$$! And they still don’t really work. Will it be v7 before they do? Another version and yet *another* $200 of my money?
It depends on what you’ll use. I never ended up using any of v5’s new features, but at least v5 was pretty stable (for me at least). I can’t say the same for v6.
Buy it for a $50 discount now and maybe use it later? I used to think like that. Now I think I’ll wait it out until the AAF and Decklink issues sort themselves out.

That would be nice, but alas, the Mojo acts as a dongle of sorts. No 1:1 without it.

I too once thought this to be the ultimate combination. READ THE FINE PRINT MY FRIEND!!
Head on over to the Sony Vegas forums (on Sony’s site–posting a link would probably be uncool) and see the mayhem that is Vegas v6.0, and the fact that Decklink isn’t really ready for prime time (with Vegas) yet
NOT consistently frame accurate
NO way to choose which channels to lay back to
NO assemble edit
NO 10bit capture (this one is understandable)
and ONLY ONE codec to capture to!Oh, and no Decklink realtime effects/transitions.
